new lighting bulb what you guys think?

i belive they are developing a 70 watt bulb for chameleons. at least thats what i've read on a uk forum. i'm sure if i'm wrong someone will put me right. gary

Knowing nothing about this bulb my only concern would be the amount of heat and the intensity of the UV produced. Something good for a beardie might be too hard on a cham (easy to get thermal burns or eye damage).

Yea ill wait till I see a 50 or lower bulb come from them........Hell, I dont go over 50watts for my Beardies or Monitors. Its all how close to the basking spot u get with the bulbs.....why increase your elect. bill on a lights that are 100 watts or more??!!

that would be sweet. if they would produce a 25-40w i would be all over it

good call, they claim that the bulb produces very little heat at a distance of 3 feet, but i would be very wary of the intensities involved (250-300uW/cm2@3') plus i didnt see any spectral analysis, when they produce a 20-40 watt, i will give it more attention /edit/ might be a good bulb for a free range room providing it was properly inaccessable and there were no adverse spectral issues (seems like a pretty big if) just for the record, im not a big fan of mercury vapors or any sort of power bulb where chams are concerned , reptisun 5.0 have a proven track history, and there is a lot to be said for the old addage "if it aint broke, dont fix it" / i will let somebody else expermiment with their chams and they can let me know how it goes!
