NEW JOB at pet store

Hoj

Friendly Grasshopper
so i work fulltime as a vehicle tech, but have spent so much time going in to the local pet store that they have decided to offer me a job a few nights a week, mostly taking care of their reptiles but i imagine i will be doing whatever is needed. i figure with the savings on supplies and the few extra dollars it will compleatly subsidize all my keeping costs:D:D
yaaaaa !!!
wish me luck!!!

Congrats! I have a local pet shop that specializes in reptiles around where I live and have always thought it'd be a cool experience to work there, even just a couple times a week.

Awesome! I work at a pet store as well, and it is a very rewarding job. It's always good to see other pet store employees who know what they're doing with reptiles. :)

ya i basically take care of their chams now, LoL so at least ill be getting PAID!! probly mostly in bugs LoL

Wait a few nights a week will cover your reptile cost? Who are you kidding? Must be you, none of us are fooled. And didn't't you say you are getting more? I know, you have your g/f buying the pay for chams with a part time job.

The pet store is lucky to have you, now you need to get them into keeping chams.

I'm going to have to start working to pay for my chameleons. Family problems and business issues with the family company have been tightening the budget for my little guys. Looks like its going to be college during the week and working during the weekend. No free time :(

Nice! I have been working at a parrot store for 4 years, it is very fun and rewarding :)

Nice!

Congrats on the pt job. I wish I could get hired to work at a pet store. I could use the extra spending cash. Especially after just paying out the you know what to get my truck to pass smog. I love CA, but some days I really really hate it. Hard for me to understand why we don't have uniform smog laws across the U.S., what can I say, I guess I'm just a prole.

Congrats. It's always fun to get paid in bugs :D Sometimes I think that would be an improvement over what I get paid now LOL

I can only provide some info on the red eared slider.
First- can you sex them? Females have long front toenails (for digging) and sometimes a longer tail males have short ones.
Keep an eye our for damage to their shells.
THEY BITE. They can hiss like a cham can.
the primarily lve in water, but need something they can get on to to get out of the water to warm up and dry off.
they cannot eat food when not in the water.
they like lettuce. but should be fed normal turtle food.
they sleep underwater, all tucked up, sometimes. but if you see him sittinon the bottom with the eyes closed, hes prob just asleep

thx i knew about the claws, but wasnt sure how accurate that was, and good to know they only eat while in the water i did not know that, why is that?
i had a few whem i was a kid and remember the hissing and biting lol
thx agian

The claw thing is very accurate. When they are itty bitty, its harder to tell, but once they are about a month old you should be able to hold two next to each other and see the differnce.

They have to eat in the water because their throat muscles are not strong enough to swallow food all the way. when they are in the water, their bodies are angled down and their necks stretched out, which allows food to pass and prevents choking.

Hoj e-mail me if you have anything you're worried about at their place.
I'll help you out where I can :)

Watch out for the pixies if they're on the larger size, they're the frog version of a bulldog, funny little things.

Maybe I'll take a drive up there on a Wednesday if you're working that night.
