New Jackson Owner's Happy Rant

I have wanted a chameleon for many years and when the opportunity came around for me to adopt one from a CraigsList posting I went straight to the internet for information. And I have to say, this forum was so extremely helpful in preparing for my new arrival.

I adopted my 6-8 month old female Jackson, Lola, less than a week ago and I have become completely obsessed. The enclosure her previous owner had set up was so sad. Just one climbing vine, plastic leaves and a little dripper with coconut and moss substrate on the bottom. So, the first few days I went crazy trying to get her enclosure just right. The substrate was tossed out and she now has real sticks to climb on and two new plants, a porthos and an umbrella tree. I have also successfully gotten the humidity level up to a constant 55% - 70% with the help of a cool mist humidifier. I am still misting by hand, but have MistKing on my shopping list, along with items needed for proper drainage.

I am mesmerized by how she moves and find myself watching her for hours on end. I love feeding time and have learned that she changes to a darker cammo-type green after she's eaten. I call it her 'I've-eaten-and-now-I-need-sun' shade.

My husband thought I was crazy when I got excited to see her healthy poops this morning.

I knew that a Jackson could be a little more work for a first-timer, but I am so happy with Lola.

And I know I've caught the chameleon bug because I'm already considering what my next one will be. :)
