New invention!

Okay, so I have an idea for an invention. I've never had this problem but I always hear about people who's chams never want to go onto their hands or arms. I was thinking, and was using sandpaper (it felt exactly like a branch...) I was thinking that since it is both flexible and has the feel of a branch, if I colored a bunch brown and put them all over an elbow glove, along with some leaves, etc, if that would trick a cham into going onto their arm. It would look exactly like their enclosure and they like to explore, so they'd walk right on! Right? I would make sure the sandpaper wasn't extremely rough and that it wouldn't hurt them though.

So your invention is branch sleeves? Well it may be genius or it may just be very sillly :D. Either way, there's no market for them...................

because a stick can trip a chameleon the frigg out if it thinks it is a snake or an enemy.. thats why you fun sucker.

good idea. your arm now feels like home to the chameleon, and you dont have to get nasty claw scratches or marks :)

I don't think it's that good of an idea. Chameleons are more a looking animal, not a take out and mess with animal. I just suggest you keep them in their cage unless you are doing other things for them, such as cleaning their enclosure or bringing them to take to the shower. Just my opinion though

not every chameleon is shy and cautious as i know you know this LPR08. but i do agree that the owner should know his/her cham's personality before excessive handling. and i also do believe the keeper should be able to determine if a cham is stressed or not if it is going to be a regular thing.

Dont get the wrong idea, Im not here to discourage anyone. ;)
I personally would not find such a product usefull, which is just my opinion.
It is a great example of thinking outside the box:cool:
Maybe Im just, silly...

People, it was just an idea not like she is going to go through with it (?). Way to smash someones idea. About handling Chams, handling them once in a while won't kill them, lighten up.

It shouldn't be made into a regular thing. MOST chameleons do not enjoy being held. I know there are chams that may not mind, but I don't think because a handfull don't mind, it should be tried by everyone. Plus, if a new owner tries this because they think it is a "better" way to hold them, they probably don't know exactly how their chameleon is, which is not good. Not to mention, even if they think they know how it will react, sometimes they change their personality.

Heh.

I think it has a practical application, possibly new owners afraid of touching it but needing to clean the cage? or re-arrange things? Or for aggressive chams (or anything that climbs I suppose?)

This is obviously not something for everyone to own, its for someone who needs it. If you can move your cham around without it then obviously you wouldn't buy it (unless handling REALLY stresses your cham out? maybe it would hlelp a little with that)

Anyways, I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents for now. One could easily be DIY'd for someone who would be interested im sure.

It certainly is thinking outside the box, very creative.......so how come I never thought of it - I'm so rarely in my box..........:D

Actually a good point, but they do already make big gloves reinforced with metal for handling monster Reptiles

Ew I feel like a commercial wh*re.

"Yes! But do they LOOK and FEEEEEL like their natural surroundings, ultimately causing less stress and a happier chameleon?!" :D

Yes but do those gloves look and feel like their natural surroundings?
I guess not. I honestly think it won't make much difference though, unless you have a special hat to hide the big face at the end of the branch.......now I'm thinking outside the box! Hoo Ra! :D

I wish I had one of those when it was time to get clean " the offspring of satan's" cage, maybe then I wouldn't have sold her!
And not only do I think outside the box but I like to color outside the lines! I'm crazy like that!
