Finally got this set up enough for him to move in this evening. 2’x2’x4’ hybrid cage. Going to try bioactive, hope it works out. Got about 8” of soil (sand, coco fiber, top soil, worm castings, peat moss, carbon) on top of 1 1/2- 2” of ceramic balls. I did three 4’ tall sphagnim moss poles (wire rolled about a baseball size round filled with moss), these acts as my anchors for fake vines, give something for pothos and spider plants to grow into and on, and hoping they will help me maintain humidity. Bamboo scaffolding to add stability to poles and to attach future foliage to. Still need to get some isopods and springtails, to make it come to life.
Umbrella plants were in a pot in his old cage, I was able to break four of them apart and replant separately. Added a couple little spider plants on top of moss poles. And pulled a pothos vine out of my fish tank. Still room for more, need suggestions for something to grow tall and to add natural climbing branches.
Need to set up the luminize LED jungle dawn and 6%UVB bulb tomorrow. Have an inexpensive misting system I’ll try as well. Currently he has his old 5% UVB build and spot light from old 16” squared 30” tall enclosure. Fogger will be set to a timer as well currently I turn it on manually early morning and night.
Pretty stoked so far, hope he likes it. So much more room than he had before! Also much more room to plant.
