Hi Everyone. I've just joined as I'm thinking about getting a yemen or a veiled chameleon soon :D I'm 13 and I'm living in Ireland. I love animals and I have 4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 degu's, 1 hamster, 1 guinea pig and her 2 babies, and one chinese water dragon. I have also kept african pygmy hedgehogs, chipmunks, corn snakes, fire belly toads, leopard gecko's, green tree frogs, gerbils, rats, mice, rabbits and ferrets!! Phew

I am thinking about getting a chameleon soon, I think that they are fantastic looking animals and have a lovely relaxing manner about them. I am reading up on a lot of care sheets and thought that it might be best to join a chameleon forum to get help from present owners of chameleons :)

I will be posting lots of questions in the near future, as I am still unsure about some parts of Chameleon care .

I am feeling at home already and I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone else and their chameleons :)

Ryan - Yeah I have been very busy indeed. I've only started keeping exotics/reps in the last 3 years but I've loved exploring all the different types of animals and their needs :)

Brad - Thanks for the link :) I will start reading right away

Welcome to the forum...its a good place to learn about chameleons!

That's quite an assortment of animals you have!

You said..."I have also kept african pygmy hedgehogs, chipmunks, corn snakes, fire belly toads, leopard gecko's, green tree frogs, gerbils, rats, mice, rabbits and ferrets!!"....what happened to them that you don't have them any more??

Just to let you know most Veiled(Yemen) Chameleons generally have very distinct attitudes. There are a few out there that have very nice and chilled out veileds, but generally people have veileds that turn out to have very bad attitudes. Every time I try to bring my veiled out he hisses and bites at me :p

I would also read around everything on these forums and take the advice from people here over the advice from pet stores and most vets because a chameleon has completely different needs than most reptiles.

Good luck and once you get a chameleon I am sure you will be hooked like everyone else here :D

I had them all a long time, most passed away but I rehomed the ferrets and corn snakes, due to circumstances changing at that time :( But they all lived long and happy lives and I loved taking care of them :)

Hi.

Yes I am aware of their temperment changes, and origionally meant they looked very relaxed and calm in their enclosure!! But I will be getting a baby one and handling it regularly :D

Welcome to the forum! Veilds would be a good choice to start off with In my mind.. :) Good luck to you, and don't forget to post pictures!:D

Welcome! Be sure to check out these other websites for good up to date info on chams.

Most books out there are out of date on Husbandry techniques and don't believe everything that the pet stores tell you. I've been ripped off one too many times from pet stores telling me I need stuff.
