New hatchlings questions

Got my first clutch of sunburst X turquoise/sunburst veileds hatched and ready! How long does it take until the hatchlings are interested in feeders, I.E. fruit flies? The babies hatched about 2 days ago, but i haven't seen them eating yet... i have seen them drink water tho. Is it normal to not see them eat in the first couple of days after hatching?

It normally takes 3 days for them to start eating. Dont worry its perfectly normal. Make shure and keep them well hydrated.

my little one took 3 days to absorb his eggsack then ate 7 fruitflies on day 4!!!

Most of mine ate on day 2 and GET READY-then the eating really starts. I am going though better than 500 crix daily with my crew of 69 babies. They went right to large pins and are now eating small-smalls-which is just short of 1/4"!

Mine took 3 days to take interest in food. Perfectly normal. Water them down, keep your temps. at the 80's have some extra ff's in there to stimulate their interest and you will be fine. Before you know it they are going to be eating like pigs and your wallet's going to be empty. LOL

hip hip hooray!

my babies just started munching out on hydei ff's this afternoon. Nice. They each zapped up about 5 a piece.

2 to 3 days is a normal time to begin eating. They will munch down on the fruit flies. WHen you introduce crickets, make sure they are pinheads.

like the previous replies, it takes 3-5 days for them to start consuming full size FFs (ie. hydei FFs). If you have any new hatchlings, you can start feeding them immediately with wingless melanogasters.
