Hello!

I've always wanted a chameleon. I'm moving into a new apartment next week and also find myself without a pet for the first time in many years. Seems like a good time to get a chameleon :) Probably a Veiled.

Obviously, I will wait till a week or so after the move to get one. In the meantime, I will be doing a lot of research and probably asking a lot of questions :D

I live in the Greater Tampa Bay area. Any suggestions for good reptile stores and vets? How about clubs or organizations in this area?

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum! You are definitely not alone, there are hundreds of us all over Florida and definitely a few in Tampa. There's a great reptile store in Pinellas county that I've done online/show business with and found them very reputable people, I'm sure they can be a good local source for bugs and supplies. But definitely read the forums as much as you can, we're full of tricks and tips on how to spend your money on what's worth it, what products to avoid at all costs, and what you need to do to succeed.
 
Welcome to the chameleon forums. I'm from the east coast of FL directly across the state from you. You have come to the right place to learn about chameleons. You have an excellent small time breeder in Orlando that I highly recommend and I believe she has some baby veileds that will be ready to go soon.

What do the numbers in the sig after the reptile names mean? 1.0, 3.2, etc?
 
The numbers mean the number of male.female animals.

So 3.2 means: 3 males.2 females.

2.1.5 means: 2 males.1 female.5 unsexed hatchlings, too

these numbers refer to the sex of that species of animal that person keeps.
for instance, Veileds 1.2.3 means that person has 1 male, 2 females, and 3 unsexed veiled chameleons :)
 
But you won't be 0.0 for long! Welcome to the forums - I'm down in Naples, so haven't hit any of the reptile stores up in Tampa, though the Repticon that comes there a couple of time a year is pretty good. They set up at the Fairgrounds, in the exhibit building there. Ask lots of questions, we are all here to help!

Hey Olimpia, can you give us the name of the reptile shop in the Pinellas area you previously mentioned?
