Hello all!
I just got a new (I believe) adult female Jackson's (yeah, I wish it was a male, as I like the horns, but she seems sweet anyway). Only had her since last night (body is ~3+", not including head/tail, and fairly robust - no ribs showing), so she seems to be healthy. I know the manager of the store I got her from, and they've had her for about 4 months. My main feeders are Dubias (ALL sizes), I have a nice large colony along with Lateralis (Turkistan), as I also feed them to my frogs (White's, Cubans, and one I can't identify, lol), my Schneider Skink, Golden Gecko, Croc Gecko, Bahama Anole, and Green Anole. All are fat and healthy on them (I just feed the roaches pond pellets, though I suppose I should start throwing in some greens for them as well).
At the store, the chameleon was only fed crickets - any ideas on how long she will take to adapt to the roaches? I've tried putting some small ones within her reach, and on some of the vines, but while she eyes them for a time, she otherwise ignores them. I tried placing her in the bin of Lateralis (she wasn't overwhelmed by them), but she was more concerned with finding a way out of the bin than eating any of them. I have also put some of the smaller Dubias in a shallow plastic container that they cannot get out of and placed it below some of the low hanging vines, hoping to entice her, but I don't think she ate any overnight.
I let the manager know that if I don't see evidence of her eating well (or actually seeing her eat - I've *never* seen my Croc Gecko eat, but he is FAT) within a week or so, I'm returning her for her own health and safety.
Thanks for any assistance and advice!
