New Female Ambilobe breeder on her way

I just purchased another female in hopes of breeding soon. She is a beautiful 11 month girl and will be here tomorrow. I am SOOOO excited.

Her sire is Rick Rose's Blue Bonnet and her dams sire is Kaleidoscope Chameleons, Trix. She should produce some incredible babies. Here are some pics.

The first pic is of her. The second is her sire, Blue Bonnet, and the last is her dams sire, Trix.

She just arrived this morning. She is in her new home and seems to be adjusting well to it already. She does not seem to be real stressed after being shipped. She went to her beautiful resting colors almost instantly, and is just climbing all over her cage, investigating everything.

Here are some pics I got of her right after taking her out of the box.

Nyah is doing well and showing signs of the eggs she bears. It has been 22 days since she was bred with my male. I expect to see her lay in the next 7-10 days. I actually just got an IP camera, so I can watch and record her when she lays. I figure this will be the easiest way to tell when and where she lays the eggs. I can watch her in HD without her knowing I can see her doing her thing.

I can see definite bumps where the eggs are. I am VERY excited to have eggs and raise my very first clutch of Ambilobes.

Very exciting!!! Your little ones are beautiful and sure to make awesome offspring! Best of luck! Can't wait for updates!

Wow! I bet Remy is very happy with his harem. ;)

He has only really met Nyah. Unfortunately, Skye is WAY too small at this point. She is still being treated for her RI and I have had no luck getting her to gain weight. She was 20g 5 weeks ago when I got her, yesterday she was at 21g. I hope that she starts eating more and putting weight on once the RI treatments are done.

Hopefully in 6 months or so, Remy will get to meet Skye, I just have to get her healthy first.

It looks like I may have eggs sooner than anticipated. When I got home from work a few minutes ago, I went in to check on all of my chams, and found Nyah in her lay bin digging. I don't think she saw me, so I am just letting her be until after the lights go out. I was not prepared for her to be in it already. I will have to set up the camera and cover her cage tonight while she is sleeping. That is of course if she hasn't laid them by then.

Is it normal for them to lay the eggs after only 3 weeks? I was expecting at least another week. I am prepared for the eggs, I just hadn't covered her up to give her privacy yet.

She has definitely been laying. It looks like she is going to sleep in her bin tonight, but you can see several eggs. I couldn't get a good picture without her seeing, but you can see a couple of eggs in the bottom corner of this one.

It's official, I now have 26 Ambilobe Panther chameleon eggs. All of the eggs look good and viable. Now the long wait starts. Hopefully everything goes well and in 6-12 months I will have 26 adorable little ones to feed.

Hey, have you tried reptaid for skye? It really worked wonders for my chams. I noticed my male panthers where a little light and when i started treatment for 10 days I saw a noticable change in energy and weight gain. I started on the 3 of this month and yesterday my males have gained almost 20 grams each.!!! thats crazy considering they are over 1 year old and I havent changed their feeding schedule during the treatment. If nothing else is working for you this is just a shot. I got mine from chameleons northwest.... oh yea I also started feeding my feeders with smcnary dry food... so either of those or a combo of the two helped me out. btw your new female is beautiful.

I will have to get some reptaid for her and give it a shot. I gut load my feeders with a homemade gut load based off of sandrachameleons recipes. My roaches can't seem to get enough of it.

Quick update. Everyone is doing great! Nyah's first clutch was laid 7 weeks ago and seem to be doing well. None have molded or developed and problems yet. Nyah is also due to lay her second clutch any day. The shape of the eggs is now very noticeable. She looked about the same when she laid the first clutch. I will definitely update when she lays the eggs.

Everyone else is doing well also. Remy is still wandering his cage constantly, and Skye has completed her treatment for the RI and is doing MUCH better. It has been a few days since I weighed her, but she weighed 32g at the time. I plan on weighing everyone tonight (except Nyah, I don't want to stress her out).

Just a few pics of Nyah taken this evening. You can see that she is pretty plump. When she is not puffing at the camera (just sitting around in her cage) you can see the shape of the eggs in belly. I expect that she will lay any day now. I have an IP camera set up on her lay bin so I can check on her throughout the day. It also makes it easier for me to know where she lays the eggs.

It looks like I will have more eggs tonight. Nyah is in her lay bin as I type this. It looks like she may be done laying and is just covering everything up. I have been watching her for a few minutes (via my wireless IP cam) so it is hard to say how long she has been at it or whether she has already laid or is digging test holes. I will update tonight with how many eggs and her condition. I AM SOOOO EXCITED!

I just finished digging up the eggs and I must say, Nyah is nothing if not consistent. She laid 26 eggs on May 22 and another 26 today. It was nice being able to compare the size of the eggs and see how the 2 month old eggs are growing. I was actually surprised at how much they have grown in that time. Here are a few pictures.

My poor girl needs to lay her eggs and looks pretty miserable. She is still drinking and ate about a dozen crickets today. She just looks so uncomfortable to me. Hopefully she lays her eggs tomorrow. Here is a picture I took of her tonight shortly before lights out. You can clearly see the eggs in her abdomen. This will be her third clutch from her only breeding in April, so I don't expect all of them to be viable.

Still waiting for Nyah to lay her eggs. It has been 7 weeks since she laid her last clutch and she is FULL of eggs. I caught her (via IP camera) digging a couple of test holes, but then she climbed back out of the bin and has yet to return to it. That was about an hour ago. I keep checking the camera to see if she climbs back in, and hope she does it soon. I DO NOT want her to become egg bound.

Nyah finally laid her eggs, YAY!!!

This is her third clutch of fertile eggs since she was bred with Remy in April. I did not expect it to be as big as the previous clutches or for all of the eggs to be fertile. However, it ended up being her largest clutch to date at 36 eggs, and at this point they all look to be fertile. I am putting her on a diet tomorrow and lowering her basking temps a few degrees to help limit her egg production for a while. I want to give her a nice long break before breeding her again.

Here are a couple of pics . The first is of all 3 clutches side by side, from right to left they are the clutch laid:

5/22/2014 - 26 eggs
7/15/2014 - 26 eggs
9/3/2104 - 36 eggs

The second picture is of just the clutch she laid today.
