New Enclosure

Just wanted to share my new enclosure for my Mellers. It is a 3x4x6.5 foot tall cage made from pvc and plastic mesh and hundred upon hundreds of zip ties. I installed his misting system and all thats left is to put denser foliage in the cage. He has been moved in and so far seems to be loving it, not showing stress, moving about but not clawing at the screen or anything and he loves the new mister.

I'm attaching some pics of the setup and it next to my old one plus some pics of him before and after he discovered the evil flash of my camera.

Thats what I'm working on now. I'm gonna pull two or three ficus from my backyard as well as some pothos. Hopefully that will help out with that. I'll get more pics soon as I can borrow my girlfriends cam, since mine blows. lol

Thanks. How do you close the doors on yours? I am using twist ties, but I get paranoid that hes going to just slip in between the sheets.

Not from what I know. He wouldnt have much reason to shoot at the netting, as he is cup fed and around the side and back of the cage theres a plastic sheeting attached closely to the cage so his tongue wont go far out on the off change it does happen.

Lol yes. I am in fact 16 years old and I did build that blue cage. I ended up rescueing this mellers though so it turned out a tad small...hopefully I'll fill it in with a veiled in a few months.

Yes sir. Its a small company that Me and my mother started. I own about half of it legally though so I'm the VP and in charge of graphic design, and logistics plus various secretarial duties shes to busy/lazy for.

It's not much but it pays for my hobbies, such as the cham.

winston, how did you make the door/s for your cage...i just bought all of the parts to build a pvc cage and the one thing im not sure about is the doors...the idea for the zip ties will really help ..thanks...

What I did was I seamed the cage down the middle at the front, then on the right side I only tied the upper diagonal half. The lower half then opens and closes. I keep it shut with a combinations of twist ties and with the plastic sheeting at the bottom (not shown in the picture) . Although if you go to melleridiscovery.com, they have a tutorial for the same cage and they build a door out of pvc and hang it on the frame.
