New enclosure, Work in progress

At the bottom I have some organic soil and moss in a drainage pan. I did all this in one day so I will be making a few adjustments and will post progress pictures. Hope you all like it.

do you have a clean up crew in this. Like is it bioactive? Is there drainage holes/ drainage layer?

just asking cause you don’t want it to turn into a soaking wet rotting egg smelling mess.

Yes I plan on getting some isopods, springtails, etc. And will be adding a layer of hydroton, mesh screen and leaf litter on top. I just threw all of this together today. But by the end of the week I'll have the drainage layer finished and will be loading it with branches. Thanks for the input!!

i mean it will work but I’m not sure how you would keep the water out of the corners of the cage. I use washing machine drain pans under my cages. but there are many different way to do it.

you could make a deep planter box and seal it with epoxy then have your drainage and substrate In that and have the cage sit ontop of it. I believe @GoodKarma19 has done this.

My ReptiBreeze bioactive has a simple planter box that the enclosure sits on.

Pictures of the raw box, prior to several coats of LiquidRubber (inside), 2-in-1 Varathane stain (outside), and the addition of a vinyl shower curtain as a liner:

You can buy PVC boards for trim from the home stores, they will not ever rot , cost a little more though. The biggest challenge is the floor, though you could likely use boards to do the bottom too, just have to PVC weld the seams very well.
