Finally got around to building the 4x2x4 I've been planning, it took about 6 straight hours of work and I think it turned out decent. I haven't put up the basking lamp yet and it still needs a couple more plants but I'm liking the way it turned out. the white expanding foam is really ugly but ill just have to deal with it until I decide to paint it or something also the bottom left pothos is also not doing so well, kinda a eyesore. lmk how it looks and what else I can improve😁

added a bonus photo of my precious baby! anyone know if that gray on the top of his head is natural coloration or a burn?

Good job! 🤩 You could hide the foam with some strategically placed fake greenery/vines. The grey on his casque is normal. I suspect every male veiled keeper questions that, especially when it darkens even more when fired up. Took me awhile to get used to it. 😂 Your guy does look a bit close to the top, so do be careful with your basking light. Start with a lower wattage bulb or even better, elevate the basking light a couple of inches above the top.

my plan was to elevate the lamp cuz I wanted branches close to the top so he wouldn't feel the need to screen climb to get higher. do you think it could use more branches closer to the ground? i was going to put the basking lamp on the left so that's why there aren't any plants over there, should i add some even though its the basking area?

I just cant get over how pretty the coloration on his crest is!

You want your basking light as close as possible to your uvb, so that when he basks he’s getting uvb along with his heat.
Chams don’t really use many lower branches, but the males especially may do routine patrols of their territory, including the occasional walk along the enclosure floor. I find all of mine all over their enclosures…even my girls. I try to provide places for them to hide, cool off, have a pocket of higher humidity or whatever else they might want. I would suggest getting a nice tree-like plant, like a schefflera…weeping fig (ficus benjamina) if you can find one. As your plants grow in and you see how your big guy uses his space, you’ll have a better idea of what needs to be added or changed.
Yes, he is quite the handsome guy. 🥰 Wait until you see him really fired up!

I was at Lowe's the other day looking for the small tree like plants but I couldn't find any. do you know of a website where I can order them from that has a reasonable price?

Didn’t you say you’re in central Florida? The schefflera are basically always available at Lowe’s, Home Depot and even Walmart. They are also called umbrella tree. Usually there’s 2 varieties - solid green leaves or green and white. Maybe this will help. As I said, the weeping figs are really hard to find (at least where I go). I’ve even found plants at Ace Hardware before. You don’t need/want to have to order plants. What you’ll usually get are very tiny and often fragile. I rarely ever go to the Walmart on the causeway, but they do have a garden center and should have some decent plants, including schefflera, dracanae, and others.
