new chameleons enclosure

Have you ever read a book about chameleons ? Or at least take a look on enclosures of other members ?
This cage is an opinion for the outdoor season but a catastrophe for indoor use. How could you provide enough water without watering your floor ? Or the box with the feeders ?
 
well my other panther chameleon didnt have a problem with it and he lived a nice long life.....as for the water getting on on the floor it has a plastic cover underneath it....
 
Hi welcome to the forum. I have never used one of the enclosures inside, but it seems you made the most of it. I love them for outdoor use in the summer, they work great for me.
 
It's not Woah it's cruelty to animals. That's why the so called animal right activists have no problem to argument against our hobby
 
woah!!! 24 x 36".....its in range of all the information i searched on....i came on here for info and ppl are nothing but know it all's and nasty....i asked a simple question about bamboo and ppl are jumping down my throat....if i wanted your opinion i would of asked for it...as for the ppl who are nice thank you....
 
Adult panthers need at least a 2x2x4 foot enclosure... That isn't really in the range for an adult. A baby, yes, perhaps even a female, but not a male... I suggest getting a bigger one for when he's older. How are you goint to combat the drip system you need? Or do you already have drainage and a plan for the dripper in mind...
 
im just spraying him for now....when i had my other panther he drank from a water bottle as well as off the leaves when i sprayed him....the enclosure i have now is temporary cause im going to getting a new enclosure and mist system.....
 
Oh, well I think you should consider getting a dripper. Once you've seen a chameleon drinking water from a driper tube... You wont even know how they got enough water from leaves... It's crazy :) I spray for a good minute-three minutes and it pretty much floods my floor... How do you combat that? Just curious.

What do you mean water bottle?

As pssh mentioned adults like 2'x2'x4' enclosures. I am sorry if you feel attacked. Members here just truly love their chameleons and they want the best for you and you chameleon family member. Depending on the size of your chameleon it can survive in one of those enclosures. I usually put my juveniles in those in the summer months here.
 
Even a 2x2x4 is an absolut minimum. Here in Germany the minimum for a single, adult F.pardalis 120x75x120 cm which is still not so big when get in mind how active they are... Sometimes the truth is nasty, Megan :rolleyes:
 
he drank out of one of those water bottles you use for hamsters...id have to squeeze it so the water would drip out....so i guess you can say it is kinda like a dripper...the enclosure has a plastic catch pan underneath the mesh..my other panther died like 2 months ago...i had a fruit fly (at least i think thats what they were) in my kitchen....and he was in the next room and it had a door...i put towels and stuff around the door so nothing would seep in....well it must of because he got really weak and wouldnt eat....i had to force feed him and he did get better for a day or 2...then he died.....how long after you get a new chameleon should it eat...iv been trying all day.....he is interested in the dubia and crickets but i think he is still scared/stressed....i didnt see him drink yet either....
 
You're supposed to leave them alone for a while and leave food in with them. It can take up to a week or two for him to start feeding. Some chameleons wont drink while you're there, which is why a dripper is a good idea.

You should never bug bomb the house with animals in it. Did you stay in there too?
 
i know...all my other reptiles were ok and they were in the same room....chameleons are very sensitive to that stuff....which i just found out.....it was my mistake...live and learn.....i felt horrible...he was the sweetest thing!!!
 
Your enclosure there is not even close to a 2x2x4, which is still small. It would be different if that enclosure was a square but its circular, it's like cutting the middle circle out of a 2x2x4 screen cage and losing about 1/4-1/3 of the space. All of my adult panthers, even females, are housed in either 6 or 7 foot tall by 3 or 4 foot wide by 3 or 4 foot deep DIY cages. Even in these cages I feel they need more room as they use even single inch of them when its warmer out. Once you get your new screen cage I think thing will just be easier for you and better for the chameleon. Also why didn't you just mvoe your reptiles out of the room? Towel are not air tight and let air through between threads and everything. Sorry if this sound harsh but I just dont get how someone could make such a stupid mistake with a living thing they cared abouts life, Next time if your useing a poisonus bug bomb that you wouldn't want to breathe in don't force your reptiles to sit in the room next door inhaling all the yummy goodness of death just because your were too lazy too or just didnt care enough to move them outside. Sorry but it had to be said. Good luck with your little one.

stumbled upon your thread...and saw you had to learn a hard lesson....from the looks of it your a beginner in the hobby and people learn from experience.....obviously a lot of the people bashing on you started their hobbies as pros.....its people like that that ultimately help beginners kill their pets because they dont help just criticize...dont let their ignorance and supreme "knowledge" scare you away.....there is a huge difference between helping and insulting...some people didnt have good parents to teach them this....yes the truth is the truth and is helpful when relayed in a positive way...unfortunately in my experience i've noticed that a lot of hobbyist (not all) have very poor people skills, which is why they fill their lives up with their pets....i dont see how insulting you would be helpful in any way, shape, or form....some things "dont" need to be said....im sure you already know what some of these ignoranus's feel they have to point out..which brings us back to my point of some people didnt get taught manners. which also makes me wonder how well their husbandry skills are too....find yourself a good, nice mentor on here and dont bother with the rest....ps anyone wants a lesson on manners and positive criticism feel free to message....i charge by the hour....

Okay, what kind of info have you provided here? Unltimately what they said is something she had to learn. While some people learn through nice words and gentle pushing, other people need a slap in the face. You also have to realize that some people on here come from different countries and the way they speak is different. Being blunt, in my opinion is perfectly fine. Instead if yelling at the more educated of us, why not provide info in the nice way that you're asking other to? That post was of no help to her chameleon.
