New Chameleon Owner!!!!!

I have a male Jackson and I use pothos plants as well as fake plants. I have a larger plant in there but I can't remember what it is called. If you go to http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp there is a list of safe plants. I also use a mist king for misting and it goes off 4 times a day for 5 minutes. Along with a little dripper that drips on the plants all day. His lights are on a timer and are on for 12 hours a day. Make sure to wash and re-pot the plants. Top them off with organic soil that does not have fertilizer.

He loves to eat a variety of bugs but his favorite are hornworms. I usually feed him Dubia roaches, silk worms and hornworms.

I use calcium without D3 2-3 times a week, multivitamin 1-2 times a month and calcium w D3 twice a month.

Thanks for the links and information. A question about the timer for the lights, what time do you have yours set for? My place starts getting natural light early in the morning, should I set the heat lamp to go off then or a little later?

I have an areca palm as well as a dwarf schefflera. For sure make sure and keep the misting's at least 5 minutes each time and I do it 4 times a day to go along with a constant water drip all day. 12 hours of sunlight a day is good. Mine wake up at 6:00am and go to bed at 6:00pm. From the research I have done on this forums if yours is inside you want calcium w no D3 2-3 times a week, Calcium w D3 Once a month and Multivitamin once a month. These guys also like it cooler than most others as a good basking temp should be between 80-82 keeping the humidity high about 70% or higher. Very good choice on the 2x2x4 and is the same exact cage I got for mine.

Sorry I had a long day. I guess what I'm trying to ask is the following............If schedule the heat light to turn on at 6 am when the sun rises, and I turn it off at 6pm there will still be natural light coming in until 8 or 9 during the summer. Should the heat lamp be turned off at 6pm after 12 hours or should it be turned off when it gets naturally dark outside?

Just keep it at 12 hour intervals, or turn it on and off at 7 and let the natural light shine/ out in gradually before the bright basking bulb. More natural I think.

Kirby's new home is here! They delivered that FAST!!! I'm super excited to set it up! :D

That sucks =( When I bought a reptarium the Plastic piping didn't fit together well and kept cracking. I advocate free ranging, or build your own!

I owned my Jackson's in Hawaii, so for me, I free-ranged or just kept them outside in their cages. But the best advice I have ever given someone about keeping Jackson's was "Make their enclosure like Hawaii," since Jackson's are wild in hawaii. I used a lot of hibiscus plants and pothos plants to keep humidity up and they worked amazingly. Just google "Hawaii climate" and try to mimic what you read. it worked well for me!

Kirby has her x-large reptibreeze all set up with tons of live plants and crawling spaces. She seems so happy as soon as I put her in!
