New chameleon owner looking for advice

Um chams don't have external ears so can only hear very low frequency sounds (such as low frequency vibrations...bass speakers, rumbling of heavy vehicles, impacts from pedestrians close by). I doubt they can or would react to bird singing. They may be reacting to SEEING a lot of bird activity close by.
Probably

Hobby lobby works good, I am a fan of the back yard for branches though :). I am thinking of upgrading to grapewood myself but its pricey.

Wooden dowels work, can get them for walmart lowes ect. Also Bamboo sticks work good.

since its still small alot of people like kiwi branches, you can get those at florists sometimes for free.

If you get them from your yard or a florist, just bake them at 350 for like 30mins-1hour.
And be careful of spinters

Getting new light system but is there anything else I should do or change?

I would probably get a few more plastic plants to add some more greenery until your living plants grow in more. Your baby just needs some coverage for the time being.

You can get plastic plants or silk plants at a hobby/crafts shop most of the time, places like Michaels (not sure where you live and if you have one near you) sells huge amounts of plastic plants for very little money compared to pet stores.

A see few plastic and mostly cloth some silk and some "natural touch" fake plants. Are only plastic ones safe or would cloth or silk be ok too?

Just use the plastic. The silk is safe however it absorbs the water instead of letting it drip off. You want it to drip off, so go plastic.

Yes I would go plastic too, especially since crickets and other free range feeders can eat silk easier, as can your cham because even though he's a panther sometimes they do like to chew on plants.
