New Chamber owner In need of some helpful tips

I've never been a reptile lover but in the last 4 months have loved the idea of owning an exotic animal; constantly debating on a hedgehog, unfortunate illegal in AZ, and a Chameleon as something to keep me occupied when I'm not working. I have a 2 week old MALE Veiled and being a first time owner haven't had much help finding care for them when so young... Any tips and advice would help great as I want the best for him.
Names for the little fellow would be great and how do I get someone to warm up to the little guy? My mom unfortunately hates the thing, but it was 3 against one

P.S I do understand that handling can be stressful and watching him club and hang upside down entertains me

If the cham is not tame, and you handle it, it will stop eating/drinking due to stress and suffer health problems. This is magnified when they are young since they are doubling in weight each month, so a week without eating is really bad vs an adult that might only eat 2-3 times a week.

Since its a male you might as well get the big boy cage now. Its the 24"x24"x48" screen models (either reptibreeze or diycages).

I hope you read up on lighting,vitamin/mineral supplements,and watering.

If you tell us about your current and future setups we can give you some pointers so you dont waste your money

Hi and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your little guy.

2 weeks is SUPER young, no one ever sells them that young so I understand why you're not finding a lot of info. Babies this little can be delicate, so keep him in something smaller until he's 3 months old, at least. Make sure that if you are using a basking light that it doesn't get too warm in his cage, you want the ambient air to be cooler so he can move away from the heat. Babies are so small that they can dehydrate easily under a very warm basking light, so keep the temps mild (about 80ish), the ambient about room temp, and mist his cage regularly throughout the day.

I agree, I know of no breeders who would sell an animal that young, they are very fragile.
You would do well to get a fruit fly culture going to feed this little guy.
Maybe even some pin-head cricks.

I also agree you need a baby cage until about about 3 months old.

Thank you everyone for your help. I picked him up from a family who bought him from a breeder as an egg, they bought 2 bot thinking they both would servive. Right now he's in a glass 10 gallon reptile tank; which unfortunately was sold to me by the fabulous no experience workers at a chain pet store. I do have a full aluminum screen that's 16×16×30 coming that will be here on monday. I have several fake plants in there with him along with different sized branches. I'm just waiting for the new cage to come in to go and buy live plants so i know how many can fit comfortably. I've only handled him once and it was just to transport him into a smaller cage so i can redo his cage since i bought the wrong dirt. I will update with pictures once I get the new cage set up to reduce criticism and rude remarks

first off you need a smaller cage. i use a 10 gal with a screen top for my babies, thats a good size so you can keep an eye on them easier to keep up the humidity and they will find food alot easier. yes you will have to go to a screen cage after a few months but for now a small ten is good. u need your uvb bulb 5.0 works for me and i stay around 70 -72 degrease . food is going to be your main problem . that young there is very few things a cham can eat. i use flightless fruit flys. and i spray them with calcium 2 times a week..your vailed may eat some veges so give it a try. try not to feed him anything bigger then 1/2 the width of his head to prevent chocking that can be stretched if you have a soft body worl like tiny silks or horns. remember your 12/12 schedule and get him into natural sunlight as much as possible they love it temp should max around 82 and mist a couple times a day depending on your area, i hope this is helpful it works great for me. as it gets older you can add some powder vits but for now feed your insects good stuff and the good stuff will go into your veild have fun!!!!
