new cham

whats up guys im andrew im new to the chameleon world, and i was wondering if anyone can give me some advicce on owning a cham, i would really appreciate it :)

i was thinking a female veiled or female jackson

For the Jackson's...

Temps- 70-75 F ambient; 78-82 F basking
Humidity- 80-90% daytime, +85% at night
Diet: Variety is always good. You should have at LEAST 3 different feeder options. Here is some good feeders: crickets, superworms, dubia roaches, snails, butterworms, hornworms, silkworms, phoenix worms, grasshoppers, katydids, and more.
Feeding frequency: 15-25 small feeders every day as a baby, 2-4 every day as an adult
Cage size: 2'x2'x4' mesh enclosure at adult. 18"x18"x36" at sub-adult, and 14"x14"x20" at baby.
Misting: Mist about 6 times a day with warm water. Jackson's love water. If this is to much, you can buy an automatic misting system. You should mist for at least 1 minute every misting--soak it, but let the cage dry out between mistings.
You should also purchase a cool fog machine to stimulate her and to raise humidity.

For the veiled...

Temps- 70-75 F ambient; 78-82 F basking
Humidity- 60-70% daytime, +80% at night
Diet: Varied diet, at least 3 different feeders. Veileds also require some veggies in the diet: crickets, superworms, dubia roaches, butterworms, phoenix worms, hornworms, silkworms, collard greens, mustard greens, kale, and more.
Feeding frequency: 15-25 small feeders every day as a baby, 2-4 every day as an adult
Cage size: 2'x2'x4' as an adult. 18"x18"x36" at sub-adult, and 14"x14"x20" at baby.
Misting: Mist 4-6 times a day. Soak the cage, but let it dry out between mistings.
Egg-laying: When she reaches about 5 months of age, make an egg-laying bin for her. Female veileds and panthers will lay eggs even if not mated with. Look up some blogs about it here on the forums.

Please know that you cannot summarize the entire care of any chameleon in one post. Keep researching and finding new info.

And adding onto Swaynes post, my recommendation is getting a Male Veiled or Jacksons if you are a beginning keeper. If you get the female Veiled you have to worry about temperatures more along with laying infertile clutches. A bit more care goes into a female so you should keep it simple and go male if you are beginning in my opinion.

But as swayne said do more research! It will really help you get a feel of what to expect and what would be good for the one you purchase along with what you need to maintain the specific environment it needs.
Hope this helps! :D

alright thanxs guys im really lookin forward to a new cham, and as a beginner should i get a adult or baby?

Honestly, I would go for a male veiled/panther that is 6 months old or older. Juveniles are more fragile and require more work. Jackson's especially can be a hard species to take care of. I would personally start with a veiled, because they are hardy and less expensive than panthers (if the veiled dies, it won't be a waste of $300 on a panther). :)
