New Cham Habitat?

I am looking forward to purchasing my first chameleon and am currently in the setup process. What is the easiest way to prep some sticks I collected from the outdoors to make them safe for my new pet? (My oven is too small)

Use a scrub brush to remove rotted bark, moss, runny sap, or obvious dirt. You don't need to remove all the bark...rough surfaces are easier for them to grip, will wear down claw tips, and will exercise their toes. Wash with a solution of 10:1 hot water to bleach. Rinse until you can't smell the bleach and let dry. Doesn't have to be sterile, just generally clean.

I don't mean to hijack but is baking sticks in the oven an acceptable process for killing any bacteria / parasites?
