They said he was 2 months--looks a little younger. New owner, how much should I expect this little guy to be eating in a day?

He's a good looking little guy! Can't wait so see those colors develop!

I'm pretty new to chameleons too, so if someone chimes in with a different opinion, may want to follow their advice. My breeder told me that generally you want to feed about 125% of the volume of their head. He said that's easier than trying to set a number of crickets/silkworms/roaches or whatever you're feeding. So if you picture his head as an empty container, put in enough to fill that plus about 1/4 more. My guy was 4 months when I got him, but he seemed to eat about that much and still does give or take. Hope that helps!

Nice! Thats a handy way of measuring thanks! He looks healthy and active, I've just been worried because he has only been eating like 3-4 crickets a day and wont take to worms, but if what you saying is true then I'm alright

Yea I got silk worm eggs, hatched them and got them big enough to feed just to find out my guy doesn't care for them. He all but stopped eating (basically just enough to keep going I think). So I finally broke down and got him crickets again and he ate like it was his job! I don't know if it's because they don't move as much or as fast or what, but he would barely eat any. They just stayed in his enclosure for days. From what others on here have told me, if he's moving around well, doesn't have sunken eye turrets, doesn't close eye during the day and his poo looks normal, you should be alright. (fecal should be dark (poo) and a white part which is the urate. The urate will get an orange tint if he is dehydrated.

Again, I'm pretty new as well, but have done a lot of reading on here. So if you see something that worries you with your guy, post it! I don't want to lead anyone down the wrong path!!!

Wow my baby is like 5 1/2 months and eats like... 15 small crickets a day. Did i end up with 2 fatty chameleons that eat everything?

Welcome to the forums. What a little cutie! Congratulations! Feed him all that he wants two or three times a day. He should be eating 10 to 15 feeders a day. He's so small he'd probably love some fruit flies to go along with his crickets. Below I'm attaching my blog for new keepers. It's how I have had success raising my veileds and panthers.

He's Sooo cute and Sooo tiny! Feed him as much as he wants at this age so he'll grow big and strong. Read Jannb's blogs they're filled with tons of fantastic information.

My chameleon i think was 2 months when i got him and he would only eat 1 - 4 small crickets a day. dont trip if he doesnt eat alot at first

My male panther cham was 2.5-3 months old when I got him, and scarfed back 10 2 week old crickets the first day, 15 the next, and regularly ate 15-20 crickets after that. Now at over 4 months old he pounds back 15-20 3 week crickets, a few soldier fly larvae, silkworms and maybe a few other feeders (handful of bluebottles, a waxworm or two, a butterworm, or a few stick bugs- whatever I have on hand) A DAY. My god, he is eating me out of house and home. However, he has also quintupled his size in 5-6 weeks, so at least it's going to good use.
