I haven't posted in a while, but I did add to my flock. I recieved a free bird(who can turn away free?!) from my boss, he is a maximillian pionus. He turned 6 months old on the 15th this month.
He is my special needs boy
he is still hand feeding from time to time, because his bottom beak is split in half. When he was teeny(no feathers) he bobbed on a cage bar and split it. It was a freak accident that none of us had ever seen before.
I make sure He has a soft diet daily(something cooked like rice, beans, and mixed veggies) and soft nuts like cashews and shelled walnut. He is extremely lucky that he maintained the integrity of his jaw bone, so the sides of the bottom can still meet up with the top mandible.
Here's my baby boy Wyatt "Chirp". Yeah I'm a nerd, get off my back!!

shortly after this picture is when he broke his beak.
