never seen any thing more ruthless..(video)

Don't worry forum, no blood, guts, or anything else that would be labelled as explicit or graphic. Just a tour of a pet store.

Why do you call it ruthless?

I will say, although I don't agree with having certain animals as pets due to the constraints of enclosures, etc., I am impressed at how clean all the cages are! They must spend all day cleaning up poop! :D I do however now have a headache! (watch the vid and you'll know why ;))

Yes, everything is clean. But there are SO MANY animals, and so many are improperly housed--birds with no perches, cages inside of cages, water bowls but no food . . .

While I'm glad Olimpia assured us that it wasn't graphic in the sense of blood and guts--I was afraid to watch the video before reading that--it still made me sad to watch it.

I can understand why erik775 said "ruthless."

Oh cause there's animals there that shouldn't be kept as pets and some of the hamsters look dead and a binch of animals housed wrong...dang i didn't even notice it but yeah the enclosures do look clean ...

Got half way through it and am still confused what the problem is? I managed an exotic pet shop for years and all of this is pretty normal. Lights, cages, cleanliness was all there. I would have used different substrates on a few cages but other than that they all seemed relatively healthy from what I could see. Food doesn't have to be in the cage at all times. We feed in the mornings and it is generally all gone in 2 hours. Then you come in and clean up. As far as like the cages inside of cages like at the beginning. That looked like a litter to me and they could have been separating them so the momma won't kill them. The only thing I didn't really find necessary was the owl chained up in an open enclosure. You can obviously tell this was filmed in Asia though and they may have different customs of what is appropriate and what is not. They also have different restrictions as far as what animals you can and can not sell as pets. And no a lemur is not one of them lol my old shop has a lemur at it right now in Houston. Very nice animals. Especially when they are CB.

Anyway just my two cents.

If you think that is bad and there are some animals people shouldnt be buying as pets then why do you buy chameleons? An overwhelming percent of chameleons that are exported from their home land die in the process or shortly after. The means of how they are kept is horrid. Even if you only buy captive bred chameleons you are still supporting the need for more WC animals and supporting that means you are supporting mass destruction of an animal that really shouldnt be kept as a pet.

That's true

Maybe not, but I will admit that I was pissed to see the meerkat and owl there. Not sure who is to say what should or shouldn't be a pet, but I don't think they should!

Yeah i think that's why i threw the ruthess in there and if you notice also in the back in one of the parts there's animals jumping aroung in their cages like monkeys or Lemurs...

But i must say i have seen worse and i have seen animals that should never be in the hands of us . well in the hands of well people. like a tigar that my dads friend had . and just a few days ago i saw a post on another forum about a post on kijiji about a cougar for sale ...and no not the one you might find at your local watering hole hahahaha:rolleyes:
