Nerves of steel

So my Cham has recently moved into a larger enclosure and loves it... but his exploring is making me nervous... as I'm sitting here doing my homework hes crawling around on the ceiling of his cage ( down side up) he insistent on hanging by his back legs and stretching to get to the wood dowels i have put in there for him to climb around, and and bask on and he almost falls when he lets go... does anyone else have this problem or am i being an over protective parent...

Yes!!! it s normal to be worried, but chams are animals tha are meant to climb around ,my cham slept upside down when i first got him:eek::p

Completely normal :D Like Ace said, these are animals that have evolved thousands of years to live completely comfortably in trees up high. For them, a 3-4' fall is not a big deal, they're built to fall from a lot higher and still be fine! Just relax and enjoy watching him be a chameleon :)

LOL well I know the climbing is a normal thing... but its good to know that im not the only one that has problems with nerves.

Jann.

yes He has plenty of vines and I am working on getting him more. Along with his Umbrella plant he has a hanging Hibiscus in there with his dowels

I was concerned about this too. It's not like you can scold him into not chilling on his cage. What I would do is just make sure he is as healthy as he can be so his grip stays nice and strong. And if he does fall by chance it shouldn't be much of anything if he has been supplemented and fed gut loaded feeders properly.
