Hello everyone,
I have a clucth of panther chameleon, i have been incubating for 8 months and few days ago i have 2 eggs sweated and shrinked in the nextday. and i waited for 12hrs but have no sign of live. I cut the egg and i see the neonate inside has died. Could you please give me an explanation did i wrong ? This is the second time i get with a panther chameleon egg clutch. It seems to be hard for hatching normally

Look at the hatchlings laying in the split eggs. Some of them appear to be dead. That’s normal.

The eggs should shrink….the baby should slit the end of the egg and likely will lay there for a while with its head out resting. Then it will struggle, squirm to get out of the egg.
Sounds like you’re not letting the eggs pip on their own…make their own slit in the egg and exit Shen they are ready to. Why?

i let them pip by themself, i have waited for 2 days. After 2 days i see it has no sign of live then i cut for checking

So the eggs are slitting on their own on the end and then the baby lays there for longer than 2 days?
Do you keep the egg in the incubator with the lid on still once it’s pipped?

When eggs slit themselves then go dead that is from my experience and knowledge a sign of to much moisture in the incubation medium. LOL

the egg had shrinked for 3 days, i have waited eggs slit themselve but i dont see any sign of slit after that, so i try to cut the egg and neonate dead inside already.

Do not quote me about this. However I have heard of keepers cutting out babies when they start to emerge from clutches that are dead on emerging. You may save a couple emergency babies. If you are that worried.

on my observation, the hatchlings did not seem capable of breaking out of the eggshell. It appeared that they may have drowned in the fluid inside the egg before they were able to crack the shell and hatch.
