Needing ideals for future chameleon cage

:)I have my heart set on getting on of those baby Jacksons. I already having a new cage ideal for my girl Angel for when we move in Nov. (date keeps changing). I want to make her cage 2ftx2ftx3ft with a laying bin at the bottom. I want the cage and stand to be made together with wheels. I plan on making a the laying bin movable with its on hidaway cabinet on the stand. I hate seeing how my lights are now just setting up top.

Now onto the jacksons cage, I want to get everything ready for my future jackson even though its probably going to be awhile til I can get one. I would really like to get a male and female as I have now with Angel and Ringo. But as fora Jackson female I know that they give live birth, so how would I make the females cage? Would a 2x2x3 size cage be big enough for the female? Would he 2x2x4 cage like Ringo is in be big enough for a male? Also what is the must know info for jacksons?

I'm becoming crazy addicted with these ideals. My husband just laughs and rolls his eyes when I try to explain my plans. So, any info would be VERY much appreciated! Thank you iall in advance!

Anyone have any suggestions for the future Jackson cages? Any must know jackson info I should know before I do buy? TIA

Jax will want a different type of cage climate than your other chams (veileds right?). You will need a lot more humidity and cooler temps, especially at night. Make sure you will be able to cool their cages off at night year round. There is a subforum here that discusses the Trioceros genus that would include jax. Do some searches on jackson's husbandry...there is a lot of information here. The other main thing is to be very careful with supplement dusting. Montane species tend to be more sensitive to vitamin and mineral dusts so plan on getting a high quality gutload so dusting is not as necessary.

You do realize you won't be able to keep the pair of jackson's together right? You'll need 2 cages or could build a much larger cage and divide it down the middle. Larger cages are often easier to manage as there's more room for the plants and they provide a wider range of temp and humidity ranges than small cages do. If I were you I'd try to make your cages a bit larger.

If you want to hide the lights, just make some sort of a visual barrier to lay around the cage top. Could be wooden, a clump of artificial plants, a coroplast panel, etc. If you box the lights into some sort of terrarium hood it may build up a lot of heat during the day. The jax won't like that.

As of right now my vields are in a 2ftx4ftx4ft cage thats divided in the middle. I was thinking about doing the same thing for my jaxs when I get them but idk. As it is right now I cant pick up the cage by myself and working with the chameleons is my job. My husband pretty much doesnt want anything to do with them. So when I build my next set of cages I want to be able to wheel out the cages if I need to etc. But yes I'm aware that they cant be housed together.

What the idea temp and humidity for them? Would the girls be better off in a 2x2x3 cage (seperated)I wouldnt need a laying bin for a female jaxs right?
