Need thoughts on this area for an enclosure

I have this area in my house that was originally made for a pond and plants etc. back in 1950 when the house was built the guy said they made this area specifically for a pond and plants. The area inside the stone has dirt and then there is a pond liner. This area gets a lot of natural sun although it is filtered by the window blocks. We recently took out a lot of the plants as it was looking kind of jungely. Anyway I could take the pond out and of course would have to if I decided to make this into an enclosure but I wanted to get some thoughts on it. I could take out all the dirt and line it with a rubber liner then put the dirt back in and line the top with rocks. My concern would be sanitation for the Cham, drainage if needed etc.. in this type of set up.

Oh and disregard the material and lights on the ceiling :). My partner sandy LOVES lights. The material would of course come down.

But I wanted to post these pics to see if anyone had any thoughts, good, bad or ugly. Would it be too much trouble. Sandy won't let me do it if I cannot do it natural looking so she does not want a bunch of pots just sitting in the stone work. I would also have to figure out the best way to screen it in without it looking like an eye sore. I would also have to be able to light it with UV without breaking the bank :)
Anyway just a thought
On with the pics

Seems like a GREAT area for a free range - do you have to screen it in?

For easy drainage you could just put a 2" PVC pipe from the bottom of the pond liner straight out through the house into the garden or whatever is out there. That's if you don't mind putting a 2" hole in your house. I did it and it's one of the best things I did for drainage issues! Makes watering the plants, misting, and cleaning SO much easier!

Yes I would need to screen it in, I have four dogs, one of which I found today while we are outside with an anole in her mouth, tail sticking out :(
I would not do it if I knew for sure the Cham would not climb out but we all know that is no guarantee :)
Ummm, drilling a hole outside the house is not a bad idea but I would have to convince my better half :). She is very patient with all my animal stuff but not sure about the hole. after 22 years, there are some things i just know to think twice before I ask...LOL also the outside is the same kind of stone so that would probably be a PITA, not to mention the outside leads straight into the front porch.

Geez, I'm oh-for-two on this one! Well, regardless, I think it's a neat area with a lot of potential!

Oh no, it's all good, I value any thoughts and ideas. nothing is out at this point, just got to figure a way to creatively ask is all :)

Any other thoughts?

Seems to me that you could do something amazing with this area. Curved mesh doors that open right out, Large plants for your cham to climb on. I would also look at drilling through and running a pipe straight outside........it's better to ask forgiveness than permission :)

I wish I had something like this in my place, the possibilities are endless!!

Oh there are many thoughts but most of them would require a good amount of DIY ability. I would drain the pond and use it as your drip area. I would then chase up a tree trunk that would fit floor to ceiling to use as your connecting point for whatever material you are going to enclose the area with. Perhaps a lexan door on the short section and some coated 1/4" hardware wire for the long section. Again there are many ways to make that area work but I would leave no standing water in there at any time.

Oh and if you can't find a nice trunk like post for your anchor spot you can try to find some timber bamboo and bundle some together.

Thanks, it would be a nice place I just need to figure out how to make it look nice, work for my guy and at the same time cost efficient :D

I would love to set it up for two chams but not sure that would look good and if I did it here it would have to look good, that is the house rule I have been given

what about draining the water in the pond and planting some indoor trees or shrubs in its place, seems like alot of possibilities with this area..

Still throwing around this place as Waldo's enclosure. Just not sure I can visualize how to do it, the lighting I. Would need etc... I need drainage and really would prefer not to drill a hole in the brick/stone to the outside, although not out of the question. The pond would definitely be drained.

Well for drainage they have the tiny submersible pump your can use. you just plug it in and once it hits a certain mark it will put it into or maybe outside so no drill in brick. But overall i think that is a great place you could probably make it pretty awesome with the right things

I can actually take the whole pond liner and dirt out of that area and use something totally different for the bottom. Flagstone is underneath it just like it is on the outside where you can see.....or atleast I think that is what is underneath it. I have several pumps, the concern for me would be if too much water accumulated in it without having some type of auto drain or cover.
