Need some advice!

I don't even know what to say honestly, there looks to be SO much wrong with your chameleon. I would get him to a vet TOMORROW if you want him to have chance of survival.

he's been eating and drinking, but not as much as when we first got the chameleon. i feel really bad and am willing to do anything but due to the fact that i lost my job i cant afford to take him to a vet right away.

Well I will very blunt with you. If you don't get him to a vet he will more than likely die. I believe he has mouth rot which has to be treated. The bump on his head does not look good. See if you can borrow the money from someone or he is not going to make it.

I agree with Carol unfortunately. Your chameleon is in very, very bad shape and his chances of surviving are low and getting lower every day.

My only advice to you is get him to a vet ASAP and have his mouth and head taken care of. How long has his mouth been like that? I am sure it was not like that when you got him. you said he only gets crickets on the weekends. Right? So you are giving him 4 or so feeders a day...he should have been getting 5 times that amount for his size.

we are on the phone with an emergency vet right now but they cant help, we are trying another one, what would be the best way to carry him???

Honestly, as much as we are stressing urgency (which is valid) I would wait until the morning to get him to a vet knowledgeable with chameleons. Almost all emergency vets are strictly dog and cat with very, very few having an interest in reptiles. So if your finances are limited then you want to spend it where it will count. I'm afraid that if you go the ER they'll give you an antibiotic, maybe some fluids, but not enough to diagnose or fully treat because they don't know about chameleons and then you'll need another vet visit to actually help him fully and the ER visit would have eaten through available finances. So let him rest tonight and start calling ASAP in the morning for someone comfortable with chameleons so you get him the best chance the first time. Just trying to help you help him and being honest about what to expect.

I would just put him in a small box with a towel in it. If he can grip ok and is not too weak I would maybe put a small branch in there for him to hang onto.

A moist paper towel would be great (as far as my knowledge goes). Make sure it isn't to wet though.

No offense Tetsuo, but carol5208's is advice is correct, while yours isn't so good with the paper towel.
A cham will be more secure being transported if it has a branch to grip onto and a towel beneath him in case he falls.
Moist paper towels are typically used to help chams remain somewhat hydrated while being shipped in tiny containers.
Just so you know the reasons.

None taken. Doing what they are most used too is best, I was just making a suggestion.

Update

I wanted to thank you all. We went to the vet and she was very helpful. She gave him an antibiotic after assessing that he does have mouth rot. She also assessed his living conditions and stool and told us after the medication he should be happy and healthy again. Thank you all again.:D
