as you know, my clutch started to hatch. as of now, i have 2 in the baby bin. i also have a couple eggs, that have been slit since last night, lots of movement went on and off today, but they are taking a long time to come out of the egg.

again, this is my first time seeing eggs hatch, so maybe im just a little too excited. i tried researching, but i couldnt find any info inparticular. what should i do? should i gently push them out at least head first out of the eggs and leave them in the incubator?

im confused but dont want to mess up.
also, the fastest i could get pinheads or fruitflies, will be friday around 6. is that ok? for frigg sakes, i was not expecting this to happen yet lol

I saw a video on youtube where a girl gently pushed them out of their eggs and it seemed fine after she sprayed it, I wouldn't know if it's recommended though. I'd give them time first just in case, since they can hatch weeks apart.

I never had babies so I'm no expert, but I think you can just leave them to it and they'll get out themselves, right? Also, just get a jar or tub, put some fruit in it and leave it near some bushes or a compost heap or something - fruit flies will soon appear......(I've been setting up several little w/c cultures for practice last week)

i'm only paying close attention to the ones split right now. and yes, i've seen that video today as well. i did it to one of my eggs, pushed it out and left it in the egg container. i came back home and he was walkin about doing great. i just dont know if i should leave the others or do the same.. theyve been trying to hatch all night, so it does seem very long to me. but again, im not sure how long this actually takes as ive never experienced, let alone found any research to tell me an estimate of how long it takes a baby to get out of the egg

Sometimes they take a day or two or even three to come out of the egg.. they are absorbing all the yoke. Do not remove them from the egg they will come out when they are ready

david the weather here is rainy and somewhat chilly now :( i wish though bro. i went down to my exotic store where they had like 6 loaded fruitfly cultures grown in Repashy SuperFly. totally out today :( only one for store use. but the owner was able to get me 1000 pinheads for this friday
i mean. im sure they will be ok till friday night. in the mean time though, ill see if i could attract some fruit flies in the house with that method. thanks David buddy

as of now, i will definitely leave them alone. thank you Dez, i appreciate that so much, and feel very relieved.

Maybe you or another experienced breeder could do an in-detailed blog or sticky thread about this. cause really, i couldnt find anything. That would be a big bonus to the breeding thread :) whoever has the time though of course.

I don't know your exact temps but it's chilly and rainy here now. Wild ff's are surprisingly resilient I think.......you might get a few if you find a good spot.....

it's 10:28pm, lights out was at 8:00pm. i have another little one who hatched out on his own. what would be the best thing to do with him/her? should i just let it chill in the egg tub in the incubator until morning? or should i just clean the babe up and put it in the bin in situations like this?

[decided to put him in the baby bin once i opened the egg lid and had him run out. i think i bonded with this one :) lol, i cleaned him a bit with a quick mist, let him heat up for a few minutes, than put him to bed. its been a stead 74 degrees in the bin tonight, so i'm sure he'll get a comfy sleep]

Leave him in there 'til morning. That way he'll have time to absorb the yolk and wake up on his own.

Also don't freak out if they don't eat right away... Babies will take a few days to start eating because they are living off the yoke.

I usually leave my little babies in the bin until they want to come out... meaning if they are curled up in the corner i leave them be.. when they start walking around or try to climb out then I move them to their baby-bin

thats what i figured dez, he was going nuts in there, as soon as soon as opened the lid, he bolted for an escape lol.

i understand that they live off the yoke for a little bit, which i am thankful for, as my pin heads wont be here until friday! again i'm not worried, i'll let them munch on their placenta and offer good water lol. Dez i appreciate all your insight man, you helped me out a bunch!
