I don't have a pic at the moment but noticed my hanging pothos plant pot is giving out.. after the dirt sand plant then rocks its too much. It's ripping the pot where the hanger attaches. I turned an empty 20 gal aquarium sideways to support it for tonight but i need ideas. And I noticed I need more rocks because frankie ate some dirt.. :(

Wat are call doin?

Don't have a pic right now its an LLLreptile 2'f2'x4' aluminum screen cage pothos hanging from a board across the top which is a bit to much anyways... Wat do I do! :(

I got the best one I could! I considered doubling it up. But I fear wat may fester inbetween the pots ya know..I've only had it for a week and a half or so.. wat all are u loading ur pots with.. they cant be as heavy as mine...

In mine, I have dirt, and the plant. :)

What type of material/cord/wire is it hanging from?

What type of "pot" is this?

Well I mixed dirt and sand together for drainage and covered it with rocks.. and even 98% covered I've found sandy substance in his poop which scares the.devil.outta me.

It's a plastic pot that had plastic hangers that I took off and replaced with a strong nylon rope. The ropes ripping the pot apart.. can I use the black wire metal hanging baskets with the coconut husk layer in it?

Im not so familiar with them, but I dont see why not.

I use the stock ones they come in, and use 550cord to hang them, tied to were the original plastic hanger clicks on.

If there is a "lip" to the top of the pot, I would try wrapping the cord around the pot, and tying the cords it hangs from to that.

My pot is incredably heavy. I think is the problem. Its a very old pothos and it'll all hangs.over the edge of the pot so It requires alot of rocks.. u know of anything other than rocks?

I would still love any other input on this issue. But I think I'm going to split it into two smaller pots to lower the surface area of dirt needing cover and individual weight.. though my cage will be groaning :( ;)

I would ditch the rocks. My chams dont eat much dirt though. If you notice him eating a LOT of it, he may want the minerals in it. Not that its good for him to eat lots of it, but a little is ok. In my opinion, provided the dirt is organic/chem free dirt. :)

you could trim the plant so it doesn't hang as heavy or attach some of the branches around the cage to take some of the weight off

Yea i did that.. plant weight Is almost zero. I'm gonns get a smaller pot I think.. something strong. And build a pcv pipe frame for my cage for support.. I appreciate everyones input

I agree with splitting into two or even three smaller pots. That's the trouble with an aluminum/screen cage, no strength. See my post "The Season for Cage Builds" how I added 1x3" framing. Also I'm replacing the screen back with a plywood one and hanging the plants on it with some spray insulation foam around the pots. Good luck.

Could he use some type of stone screen or the plant liner stuff for outdoors in his pot instead of rocks? On my Ficus I went to Home Depot and found this thin sheet rock. It looks ten times more beautiful and doesn't weigh half as much as the round river rocks. That could cut down the weight pretty well. It was hidden with all of the walking stones in the greenhouse.
