I purchased a treo of Rudis Chams and had a few questions for anyone who can help:D:D!! (The pic of the cham that is pissed because I picked it up for a quick photo shot for you guys) This is a male correct bulge isnt that noticable to me maybe a more experienced eye can tell... That was my first question the second is... Is the Cham in the other pick Gravid??? Thats her belly undershot and her near the light. Thanks for all the other help:) And one more thing.. I have read that they dont require a heat lamp just a uv light (or in my case 3) lol but i put a heat light on them and they all will bask it it so i figure why no use it, Right?

Thats a male, another way to clarify sex on rudis chameleons is to look at the overall appearance of the body. Male rudis chameleons will have a slender/skinny body, where as females will have a bigger body and a much more prominent arched back. Check out this thread (https://www.chameleonforums.com/cush-strikes-pose-24288/) to see pictures of my male rudis for clarification. I cannot help you with the gravid female question simply because I have never kept a female :p. I use a heat lamp for my rudis chameleons, I suggest you do just to prevent any problems. Ideal basking temperatures for rudis chameleons are 82-83 degrees. I also see that you are using a coil UV bulb? I recommend you remove it and purchase a reptisun 5.0 fluorescent tube. The coil bulbs are very bad for your chameleons eyes, they cause your chameleon to become snow-blind, which in turn causes the chameleon to become lethargic, anorexic, dehydrated and then eventually it will die. Trust me on this, my female veiled died because of coil bulb exposure.

Re: need help with rudis

I read that the coil bulbs had been fixed by the companys.. or am I wrong?
and what are your thoughts on keeping Rudis' together, say a treo, ive read it okay that they will actually get along..

The first one doesn't look so healthy, try to improve the water supply. The animal form the last picture is definitly gravid. If you want healthy babies, seperate her and take her to a calm place where she has nearly no stress and temperatures which could be controlled well. Always remember that one hot day could erase a complete group of juveniles

Re: need help with rudis

Actually the first one that you said is unhealthy is normally very brught green with lots of yellow and blues, I think he had an off day and i was flashing a camera at him. oops... and about how much bigger do you think she will get??

She could get bigger, but that depends on the species, the age, the kind of food etc. I've had a merumontanus female who looks like a tennis ball with feet and caudal :D

Re: need help with rudis

don: that is the something I have been wondering/worring about, I ordered a treo from LLLreptile and got what seemed to be two males and one female instaead of 2 females and one male, but it does not have a bulge at base of tail and is huge, so im not so sure

Where did you get that information from? I have witnessed the effects of coil bulb exposure and I am warning you not to take that risk. I have never raised chameleons in the same enclosure. I do know some people who have successfully kept rudis chameleons in the same cage, however those chameleons were kept together since birth and I am not to sure about wether or not it would be OK to place chameleons in the same cage that have not been raised together (territorial disputes are bound to happen).

Rudis

That is a male for sure.
That female is gravid. 100% sure, considering my female is gravid and has EXACTLY the same colors:)
i'm currently going to attempt to breed red rudis with my regular females offspring:D

Hey did you ever find those pics of all your rudis or breeding facility? Im still really interested to see what they and it looks like! I want some ideas for my own.
Also, any way you could post some pics of your 2 older female tenuis? Theyre one of my fav species, do they both have blue noses? I have a lone male and hes in need of some female companions!
Thanks.

After he wanted to sell them I was interested in getting the pair back with Dans male because they had supposedly bred or the other male wanted to breed. When I asked him about them, after that thread was made, I was told they didnt breed at all.

Considering this and all the other ridiculous claims, I call BS on anything he has to say.
