my jackson's gave birth while i was at the grocery store.

I had no idea she was pregnant - or even mated. i am panicking. she is 13-16 mos. old and was just suppose to be my pet.

i see about 15 babies; moved them into an enclosure and put mommy in a new enclosure i just received friday.

I am very concerned about mommy's health - suggestions on what to do with her would be appreciated.

i don't know what to do for the babies - i never planned on more than one chameleon - so how do i house these, when do i seperate them, etc etc

please, please give me your expertise - i am at a total loss and don't want any to die.

Sharkey,

The female needs to be hydrated and fed. She also needs alot of privacy so locate her in an area where there isn't alot of foot traffic. You need to buy a few established cultures of fruit flies and some pinhead crickets for the babies as well. Check this site out for more info. http://www.chameleonnews.com/

Click the article refrence and read the articles under "PRENATAL and NEONATAL CARE." Hope this helps and congrats on the babies...

Congrats!

Wow......what an unexpected bonus! I no little about Jacksons so I can't help you with your babies. I'm sure someone will help you shortly. As far as the Mommy goes making sure she is hydrated and starts eating is probably the main thing. That, I think is pretty standard with females. Has she started eating again? Sorry I can't help you. I saw this and just had to express my support and congratulations. Don't worry about finding homes for the babies later on. I don't think that will be a problem :)

the mommy (kamellia) ate a cricket as soon as i put it in. she is hydrated at the moment - but she seems weirded out - very dark in color.

am frantically trying to locate a place w/baby food -

any one live in pinellas county, FL and can give me suggestions??

Baby food....

Do you have Petco or Pet's Mart where you live? They usually carry pre-packaged fruit flies and mini crickets. Not the best quality where I live but I have had to get them when my regular supply ran low. You are going to want to get a better quality supply online. I get my fruit flies (H. Sturdivant...spelling may not be correct) and 1/8" crickets from Big Apple. They ship overnight as standard shipping. Pinhead crickets have always been too small for my babies. 1,000 1/8" crickets is my standard order for a clutch of babies. The H. Sturdivant fruit flies are large and meaty as far as fruit flies go. Super easy for the babies to see too. I'm sure other members here have good supply sources to give you as well. There are quite a few Florida people here. Keep us posted :)

heading to petsmart on MLK right now - but they only have fruitflies. will order the rest tonight like you suggested.

thanks
