Veiled chameleon,7 months old ,
Feed it crickets ,usual daily calcium w/ o d3, wd3 twice:)
a month, reptivite twice a month, temp by the basking bulb is 86F,when I said 78 it was a thermometer in the center of the cage,he lives in a 18x18x36,mist him twice a day n I do have a waterfall Wich I clean out weekly but after looking in these forums I'm gonna get rid of it,I also feed it strawberries, sweetpeppers,n Apples, just started that a week ago.I call him Gordo cuz he looks fat compared to others,is there such s thing as over weight cham? Anyways I hope this is enough info

honestly sounds like maybe temp is to high? it looks right but couldyour thermometer be off?? or maybe dehydration?? what colors the poop? got white?? or yellow tint? maybe a nice shower could help.

RI is "respiratory infection"...

are you hearing any noise? Are you seeing any mucus?

I tend to agree with where's waldo that the temp is too high. They gape to cool down. How are you measuring the temperature at the basking spot?

I use a 60 watt basking for him,he has separate uvb, come to think of it the perch is 4 inches from the bulb,I have a temp gauge in the center of the cage, but when I checked awhile back it was high 80s ,what is the shower for? M the poop is white,

lower his basking temp to 82ish and see if it stops. make shure he has a good temp range. mist a little more often. if you hear him weez than you'll need to turn up the heat in order to bake out the RI; however, i would go to a vet (if you hear a weez or turning down the temps doesnt help) to be 100% shure of the action you need to take.

for now lower his temps. if the gapeing stops he was hot.
