NEED help on lighting/heating

I just got a baby and I'm trying to make sure I have everything right for him. I have the Repti-Glo 5.0 and 2.0. Should I switch that to the Repti-sun 5.0? and then all I have is one 75watt basking lamp and the 75 watt inferred light. I live in Colorado and its been getting cold here at night. I have been having to put both the basking and inferred on to get it at 80 in the middle of the cage. Is this ok or should I do something different? Then at night I just have the inferred one going and its around 70 in the middle of the cage. Let me know hwat yiou suggest and thanks for your help!!!

hi welcome to the forums
i would get the repti sun 5.0 and throw out the night lamp depending on type of cham they can take a good drop in temp like vields can take 55 degrees and they need complete darkness to sleep
your basking bulb can just be a reg old house bulb use different wattages to achieve desired temps wich you should gauge with a probe thermometer

Well, don't throw out the reptiglow 5.0 if it's new, but you can return the 2.0 as you don't really need it. And then in 6 months when it's time to get a new bulb then go and order the reptisun 5.0 online somewhere (it's usually way cheaper on Amazon)

Yea, you probably don't need the night light. Since this is a baby, you don't want it getting below 65 in the cage, but it doesn't need to be at 80*F 24 hours a day. Your basking temp should be in the low 80's*F now as well if he's young. Then it'll go between 85-90*F as he gets older.

Great Thanks for the help!! I live in colorado and its started to get cold at night. Should I just use a space heater to keep it at 65 for the little guy? and I can still return the reptiglow and trade it for the reptisun. Do you think that is the best way to go?

how cold will it get without the space heater?. That is the question. The Reptiglo 5.0's are fine to use too. They are not that much different from the Reptisun. There was a test conducted by someone and the Reptisuns acutally emitted a little more UVB rays than the Reptiglo. So yeah, if you could return it that would be ok to switch it out.

Well my house it set to 65 normally but It never seams that warm. I could test it tonight and see how cold it gets in there with nothing on. Waht should I be looking for around 65?Also I was going to get a humidifyer to help the humidity once its so dry in colorado is that ok? I also spray he cage twise a day
