need help fast please I'm scared

I have read all the posts on this thread and am keeping my fingers crossed
that I see a positive post from you today that your cham is better.

There are just so many things we still need to learn about this wonderful and
fragile animals.
As has already been said, a cham medical book has never been writen, and likely never will since these are such exotic creatures.

PLEASE post an update

Maybe I'll write one in my spare time. By the time I could publish it I should have gathered enough info. Would be a nice thing to keep me occupied on.

From experience, animals that do this have a ear issue.

While animals can seize, this isnt what that would look like.

Human seizures involve twitching uncontrollably. Animal seizures dont always do that. My dog would bark uncontrollably and tremble (not twitch) and almost look rabid when he had a seizure (he was epileptic).

Im not sure about reptiles, but when my dog did this, the vet stated it was from inflammation in his ears.

This caused the slanting behavior seen in the video.

The nerves in the ear become inflamed, causing the animal to twist towards that side of the body. Its like an ear infection, but not quite.

If its not better by morning, I would suggest a vet visit, as you will need medications to reduce the inflamation, if indeed this is whats going on.

JMO.

Good luck.

Thank you littleliz and everyone else that has posted and has been trying to help me out so far. He has not woken up yet so I cannot tell u if he seems better or not yet but as soon as I know u guys will too. As for the inner ear seizure stroke it really has the possibility to be any of these things as the symptoms he wa showing can be attributed towards strokes seizures or inner ear inflammation/infection so I called my vet and he is coming over in a couple hours to give blaze a check out and meds because obviously he needs them u will be kept updated don't worry as I'm trying not to as well :/

I presume this is what you are talking about

http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2012/06/04/canine-vestibular-disease.aspx

Same symptoms can be caused by a stroke. We have an iguana who had a stroke and she circled like this also because can effect just one half of them they twist around.

yes thats waht im talking about. he was on prednisone and other meds for several days. Recovered with no long term effects. though depending on the severity, some animals have a permanent head tilt.

For the record- dogs cant have strokes. Just FYI.

Not sure about reptiles though.

Update on blaze

Okay so to my happiness blaze is my lefty turning anymore and seems to be acting normal I gave him a good misting and inspection. And some food to hopefully cope with the stress of yesterday. The vet told me the same thing and said we just have to wait and see if it happens again blaze did have trace signs of a sinus infection so we got him some antibiotics for that. But im still frightened I moved him into my room so I can keep a close eye on him and now we wait I think any other changes or developments will be logged with video and pictures along with written/vocal description Of events. Thank all of you so much u have no clue how much u helped me in my time of true need and I really do appreciate it and for your help I will be helping u with the documentation of this inner ear seizure thing I'm not sure what to call it yet.

That's great news! I'm glad he's doing better for you. Hopefully this is a one time thing and it will never happen again.

Update on blaze

Okay so blaze had yet another vet visit today this time he came to my house and had a team of specialists with a big van full of sweet equipment to run tests with it was actually pretty awesome to watch a see how much my vet cared about what was happening to my guy. Anyways needless to say this vet visit was very expensive(387$) and that's just for everyone to come out and poke a lil a run a couple tests not for antibiotics but well worth it they actually told me that if I let them study blaze once a month that they will even cover the antibiotics they are goin to have to use. As they wanted to study this weird behavior as well because they have not seen it in any other reptile or amphibians so they want to case logg and see what the actuall problem is they do have to sedate him at some point to see if his inner ear is inflamed or if it a whole other issue that caused that lefty circling. So anyways enough with my rantings but he is eating perfectly having a great time looking good and chillen so all is well in the world of blaze.

That is excellent news! There is so much that's not known about chameleons. Your vet (and his team) sounds absolutely amazing! Please keep us posted somehow. Maybe you should start a blog?

So happy that Blaze is doing well. And how awesome that 1. you have a fantastic vet, and 2. that Blaze can now help advance the field of reptile veterinary care! I love it! :D

Your vet sounds awesome! I wish mine would take that kind of initiative (or even just do house visits!!!)
