Need few suggestion on a DIY screen top

My Red Eye tree frog has become quite the escape artist. The first time I found her under the fridge (almost completely dehydrated). This morning I found her on the back of the speaker that is by her enclosure. Right now I have her in a 20 gallon aquaruim with the standard hood. I need to find a cheap fix for a screen top. Since most of you build your own enclosures, I thought you would be the best people to ask.

This is her home:

That looks like it would be a nice tank for some type of small community fish (danios? guppies?) and a newt of some sort. Honestly, maybe you should invest in a better suited, vertically aligned glass enclosure without a massive drowning risk for your frog. For a temporary fix on the escaping thing, just get some screen from the hardware store and put it over the top of your tank and then sit the hood back down.

That is the plan for later on as this will be a brackish tank once again. But we are buying a house and are limiting spending until we know how much room we will have for all of our little friends.

You could always empty the tank and invert it so that it sits on it's end and is a vertical. You could buy a screen top (or make one) and attach it to the front. That is how I keep my stick insects.

They are actually $17 at the store I go to. But I just started this new job and was trying to find something cheaper (i.e. free). I did find an old window screen at my grandmother's house and cut it to fit. It'll work till I get paid.

Thanks, everyone.

And I actually did think about turning it on it's side like Kenya said. But then I wouldn't be able to have water in it.

Well if you have a screen then just go get a 1/2 at HD, an 8fter is less than a buck. Make your measurements and cut the pieces to a 45 degree angle, Drill pilot holes then, screw them together, cut your screen to fit and staple it down. I would double up on the screen that way you know it can support "some" weight.

Just an idea :)

Great idea. I was messing around with the one I made last night and ripped a hole in the screen. Grr....
