Need an advice about nutrition for a baby veiled chameleon

hey guys!

I have a baby veiled chameleon, he is 3 months old and his name is Rango. I got him from FLChams and I had him for about two weeks now. I'm a rookie at having a chameleon so I need some nutrition advice in order for Rango to be healthy and as happy as he can be!

Right now he is eating small crickets, about 8-10 per day on average, sometimes more. Crickets are dusted with calcium. He looks healthy and happy. He loves to hunt for crickets too!
I tried feeding him mealworms but that didn't go that well. He showed no interest in them at all. Also, he munched on a flower of a hibiscus one time and he seemed to like it.

What else should i try feeding him? To make his diet more diverse and interesting? I want him to be healthy and happy ☺️

Roaches, silkworms, hornworms, and superworms are all good. The worms should be feed less often but roaches are a good staple.

Sorry for a stupid question, but how do you feed the roaches and worms?
Crickets just jump around the terrarium but what about roaches and worms?

When I tried feeding mealworms, they were in a special mealworms plate that I got in Petsmart.

Any advice?

Roaches and superworms I put in a cup that they can't get out of. Horn and silkworms I put on the screen, they do not move very fast and my cham usually gets them before they go far. You can let the roaches free roam and let the cham hunt them, I just prefer the cup. I would not let the superworms free roam because they will just crawl under something and never come out. There is no stupid questions. It is better to ask then to make a mistake.

Roaches is one of a very few things that I'm kinda scared of so I'll go with a cup haha.

Thank you for your advice! I appreciate it!

Dubia roaches are not bad like the ones that infest homes. They do not move fast and if they are kept cooler like 65 to 75 I find they don't move much at all.

Okay, well that's great news! I'll definitely try all of these. See what Rango likes more!

Oh, that's awesome! I'll definitely try those too! I also heard that some chams also like waxworms - are they any good?
They are high in fat and should not be feed to often, but once and a while is fine. You can also pupate the waxworms and feed you cham the moths. Many chams like catching the flying moths and gives them some extra stimulation.

Whoa. That's very interesting! I never heard about chams liking flying moths! That's crazy!

Mealworms have killed some of my chameleons. Apparently the worms were not killed during the biting/feeding process. The worms chewed through the chams body. Be aware....

Look around lights at night. There should be some insects there.

Wow! I have heard of them causing impaction because they are hard to digest but never heard of them eating a cham from the inside.
