Need advise

Hi everyone :)

I’ve had my little buddy for three days and I’ve been a bit worried. I’ve been reading a lot of chameleon-keeping horror stories and I’m a bit worried that my chameleon might have MBD or possibly be dehydrated? Are the joints on his back legs normal and should the ribs be this visible? Can someone guide me as to what to look out for since there is a lot of different things I’ve read about this? I’m going to include pictures for advice. I do want to mention I am upgrading his light this weekend to a t5 HO 10.00 and I’ve also bought more foliage to add to his enclosure. Any advice and tips would be helpful. I’ve been really overly worried that I may be doing something wrong with his care.

Wow, I’m so behind on all these threads. No, I don’t see signs of MBD, but I am not a vet. You have a beautiful female TJJ there...a unicorn too; they’re rare! Are you ready for babies?

I had no idea that my girl was pregnant, I was told she was juvenile but then found out through JacksJill that my girl is pregnant. So today when I get home from work, we’re on the move to get her set up for babies. Completely changing up her cage and buying a new set up for the babies to come. I’m going to be a grandma! :)

I’m glad @JacksJill is helping you; she is a wealth of knowledge and experience. Have you considered individually raising your babies? Both @JacksJill and I have built custom neonate enclosures for individual raising. It can be done well for relatively low cost.
I actually would really like to, after my full panic last night I was doing research on baby Jackson’s care and I read that there may be a link to them not living passed the three month mark with them all living together. If you can guide me on what to collect and how to make these enclosures for my grandchams, I’d be super grateful!

Love to!

Here’s some pics of my neonate enclosures. They are made out of plastic containers from the dollar store, with parts cut out for screen, and doors.

Amazing! Thank you so much, I can definitely work on that project. I know it may be hard to gauge but about how many babies should I be expecting?

I have xanths myself, and momma has 15 - 20. TJJs might me a bit lower, but ask Jill.

Tjj are usually in the dozen range give or take 3 so 9-15 probably. You can start them in a group bin briefly and then move them into individual setups. Raising them individually is best.
