Need Advice

First a cage. Depending on the age chameleon you want to get. Like a baby, juvenile or an adult. Then you need some plants. Could be fake or real but suggested to be real. Those will help keep te humidity in your cage up. Next branches. I have 17 in my cage. Chameleons love to climb. Remember that. Vines would be great too. You could find those at per supermarket or something. You need a dripper. You could buy one or make your own. Next are lights. The most popular and common one is a reptisun 5.0 UVB Fluorescent bulb. Also you need a basking light. I just use a 60 watt house bulb. From there that's all you need for your cage I think. Then you need calcium with d3 and without d3. You also need multivitamins. You need food for them too. Chameleons like crickets, dubias, worms, etc. make sure you dust your chameleon twice a month with d3 and for the other days calcium without the d3. Also multivitamins 2 times a month too. Basically every other week you use d3 and multivitamins. Just for 1 day though and you dust all their food with that for that one day. You need a mister. I personally use a 1 liter hand mister I bought online and it works fantastic. You want to mist your chameleon 2-3 times a day for about 2-3 minutes each times. Chameleons don't drink flat water. They drink their water from droplets produced when misted from their leaves, branches, vines, etc. You could always get yourself a mister which cost a little more but it's automatic and you could set it to mist whenever you want and for however you want which is a big help. I also have a day and night timer set for 8am-8pm. The date and night timer comes in handy because you can set it to turn on the lights whenever you want and to turn it off whenever you want also. That's a big stress reliever because you don't have to worry about turning it on time and off too. I hope this helps.

Yes thank you very much this did help. :)

No problem. Also you need to have your lights on for 12 hours a day and darkness for 12 hours too. Your chameleon needs light and darkness. If its no provided well like this they could get stressed out and too much stress could give them a heart attack and die. I just want you to be aware.

Please dont scare new owners like this.

Chams are not as fragile as people make them out to be.

They need light and dark to sleep. They have a hard time sleeping with lights on, which can cause illness and yes stress.
However, just because a cham gets stressed, they wont have a heart attack and die.

This is what I read on a care sheet. I'm not saying automatically they will die. I'm saying too much stress could lead to that. I'm just warning because some people don't know and I don't want them to have a bad experience. I want the my do enjoy their new friend to the fullest.

sounds a bit severe ha.cant say you didnt warn him:)
on a serious note do try minimise the stress itll give him a better quality of life and hel probably be more receptive to handling if hes stressed less.

mcseb has covered pretty much most ends of the advice however i will tell you to make sure and gutload your feeders there are plenty of threads on it on the forum here just type it into the search.

good luck withe the cham

awesome :) my only other piece of advice to be sure you get your new buddy from a reputable breeder. the sponsors of this site are awesome and are well known breeders who take proper care of their babies. im getting my next veiled from one of the sponsors and they provide everything your looking for with a breeder, a health guarantee for a certain amount of days, overnight shipping, hot pads or cool packs to keep the temp right while they ship, and lifetime info on you baby cham :)

i personally havent used that. mine liked branches, the foliage to hid in, and vines strung thru the cage so that he could go all over the place. he also tended to go from his basking perch and climb upside down on the top to do "pull ups" :)

i cant see one going for the hammock i think branches and vines are a better option even bamboo ladders.thats not to say they wouldnt like the hammock though but id rather go for the natural environment look

Does DinoFuel actually enhance the color of the color of the chameleon.

In short "yes". However, it isn't like waving a magic wand. Diversity in diet and healthy food sources are key. A healthy diet will lead to improved health and overall appearance and color. The ingredients in DinoFuel have know pigment enhancers. For example, Marigold, Spirulina, and Bee pollen, to name a few.
