naps

I have a 3 weekish old chameleon who takes naps. he’s not always asleep-but he spends a good part of the day with his eyes closed. he’s also a little malnourished and dehydrated (the breeder sent us a chameleon that was younger than when they said, severely malnourished and dehydrated.) Should i be worried? He was in a exotic animal hostpital for a few days bc he was so skinny- they said he was ok now- and is always a light tan except for when he gets cold when i take him out to syringe feed him and then he lightens back up as soon as he goes back in his terrarium. this is what he looks like most of the time.

Chameleon do not nap he doesn’t look to good You might want to find a different place to take him. where did you get him from

cb reptiles. he doesn’t look good bc he is still dehydrated and malnourished. he’s getting dropper fed every 6-8 hours prescription food and water. he’s going for a full examination to another vet on thursday. he also got to cold when they were shipping him to us. plus hes shedding rn

we don’t know. we ordered a chameleon they said would be older but the exotics vet said he couldn’t be much more if at all that 3 weeks. Cb reptiles just sells for the money.

he’s in a glass terrarium via the vets recommendation bc he needs really higher humidity and temps-so i cant get it 10 inches away

If you’re using a T5 with either 5.0 or 6% uvb, it should be about 8-9” from his basking area. But, you should be providing him lower and shaded areas so he isn’t blasted non stop with heat and uvb. It’s never good when a chameleon has their eyes closed during daytime. Poor baby has been thru so much and you’ve got him under veterinary care. Perhaps @kinyonga has some words of wisdom for you.

What's the mark near the top of his tail?

Please be careful when feeding/watering him with a syringe
that you don't get anything in his lungs.

Can you please show a picture of him sitting that place you say he likes so I can see the lights shining on him.

he has a vet exam on thursday including a fecal test. the mark is just a little blue dot. he’s been to a specialist already-who said his naps were ok since he was malnourished and dehydrated. i syringe feed him by putting it on his nose and letting it drip to his mouth- ik not to force it. I also called the vet today and asked about his staying under the uvb and said that was good bc he needed more uv rays or something like that. he’s currently in a glass cage bc he need extra heat (recommended by doc)
