Its a shame that the poor animal had to suffer for the amusement of someone. I'm glad that you tried your best the save the little guy. The world needs more people like you who care. If you decide you want to get into chameleons, this website is one of the best resources you could possibly have and is very supportive.

In defense of northern Britain (Scotland, to be specific in this case!) the offender in question was a southern Englishman...

I wish that made me feel better.......but it is nice to know there are Scottish people who think global philosophy like you (you might have noticed my Scottish surname). I don't know if you are still at school but the way I understand it is that awareness is actually growing (read 'The voyage of the Beagle' and marvel at Charles Darwins joy when he finds a rare fox that was thought to be going extinct.....he promptly smashes it on the noggin with his geological hammer and sends it halfway back across the planet to the British Museum )

That said the understanding is of course still far below what is necessary for the survival of humanity....let alone the more vulnerable species.....keep fighting the good fight and keeping the faith though. We WILL get it right before the end

As for getting into chameleons- I may well do so! My house doesn't allow pets currently but in a couple of years...
