okay, so I think I'm going to make my own chameleon cage. it's going to be 2x2x4 I was thinking a square or an octagon... I really like the idea of an octagon would that be bad? or no?

Only of you put another chameleon in it and make them fight for 3 to 5 rounds lol. Any shape should be fine as long as the square footage of at least 2x2x4 is achieved and you are able to clean, maintain, and it's function.
