My veiled is laying her eggs! :d

so after 25 excruciating, anxiety filled days, my femaled veiled, Katniss is laying in her 5 gallon bucket filled with play sand. Couple questions for you vets....1) should i water her enclosure while shes laying or completely leave her alone? I know not to feed her but when she comes up from laying that it'll be time to "rejuvanate her" 2) How long after she lays should i plan on extracting the eggs? 3) Are there any signs of a struggle that I may need to look for while she lays (eggbound, tunnels collapsing etc) and 4) finally, can someone just refresh me on the most successful "at home" way to incubate the eggs. I've read and have a good idea but its been a month or two and i am so nervous right now i swear when i woke up and saw her like that i about had to down all of my anxiety meds because I don't want my baby dying. Please help! lol....

if shes done laying mist her give her lots of water, feed her and give her some calcium. extract the eggs as soon as she covers up the tunnel.

you closet, vermiculite, hatchrite, or perlite damp, not soaked..
darkness.

7-9 months later.. eggs!!


it must be the time for laying, my girly is laying eggs right now too, her retained clutch.

shes in the basement closet, i updated with pictures shes doing well, ate 11 dusted crickets and was rehydrated....heres more pics of my set up...i think i've got it right, but im open for constructive criticism i have them in a closet at 69-74 temp wise, in a big tupperware bin filled an inch with water, and in it are the tupperware bins with perlite 1.5/1 cup water mixture and the eggs are just barely in there. then i have holes all around the sides of the containers and the lids on tight and floating on the water.

In my opinion it is unnecessary to have your egg tubs floating in another tub of water. I am assuming that you are doing this to maintain your humidity, but if your mixture that your eggs are sitting in is correct, then your humidity levels should be good. Other than that your temperatures sound fine, I would imagine in 7 or so months you'll be posting baby pics! Good luck,

your perlite looks really wet? like the perlite is floating in the water

i drained a lot of the water from the perlite and is perfect in my opinion now, but it was wet ya...do you think them sitting in too wet of perlite for a couple hours ruined the eggs?


i will post pictures of the eggs in the perlite in a couple hours to compare...anyone though? they were only in the wet perlite for like maybe 2-4 hours MAX????? surely that didn't do them in.... :/

Probably not. Weigh the tubs and add water as needed throughout the incubation, but never directly on the eggs. Your temps are fine.
