My veiled chameleon has a swollen eye wich isnt there all the time

Hello,
I just bought a baby veiled chameleon. I noticed that there was a swelling from time to time. It would come next to his left eye and he would scratch it against a branch. And after a minute or so it was gone. This happened a few times and im kind of worrying. He eats relly wel and is active. Please help me! Im not into chameleons for a long time...
 
Can you upload a picture from when it's swolen and mayb also when it's not?

I wouldn't be supprised that your cham didn't get proper misting/humidity in the store and didnt get enaugh chances to clean out his eyes... Try spraying him for longer periods of time so he can clean out his eye.

There could also be an other reason but without pictures there's no way of saying...
 
There are a variety of reasons your chameleon could be doing that. It could have something in his eye or possibly it is being irritated by something in the cage such as your plants. Do you have any live plants? If so, what kind? What kind of lighting are you using? It might be nothing at all. Sometimes they pop their eyes out and will rub them on something. It is not a regular thing they do on a daily basis though, and if that begins to be the case, then something is wrong.

Tkanks for the response! I will spray his eyes in the morning. Tanks for the link as well. But i dont have a lot of information about this specific chameleon because i just got it. I keep him in an 45×45×45 terrarium for now. The humidity changes between 50% to 70% but not higher or lower. I feed him smaal crickets and fruitflies with the calcium supplement of zoomed without d3 and once a mounth with d3 and extra vitamins. I have a picture with his normal stage and will try to get a pictjre with the swollen eye as soon as i can

I have a few live plants: a small bromelia and a pathos plant. I also have some type of fern wich i got from a reptile shop. I have a basking spot of 25W and a 5.0 uvb. I really hope is is someting in his eye but the swelling looked terrifying
 
Since it's light now you may want to try and get that picture.

Maybe it's best you first call the petstore tomorrow, tell them about the situation and maybe they can refer you to a vet or take back the animal to take it there themselves.

Hey! I managed to get a picture of when jts swollen. But it is like this for maybe a second or so and then its gone...

I managed to get a picture of the swollen eye. But this is just there for a second or so. And then its gone for the rest of the day. Thanks for the list! I will contact them!

this looks to me like he's just cleaning his eye... i could be wrong tho... It looks kinda creapy when they do that.
Make sure you keep up spraying for several minutes at a time several times a day.

I agree with @Remkon. If that bulge goes away, the baby is just cleaning the eye. If it keeps doing it to the same eye, there might be something still in the eye or something is still bothering the eye. Increase misting. They need long misting sessions of a foggy mist to clean their eyes properly. I think a good misting system like a MistKing is a necessary piece of equipment. If you are hand misting, here is a really good mister that will give you the same very fine foggy mist that a MistKing will. It can be pressurized.

Im sad to tell you that the chameleon has died. Ive sprayed him every day a couple of times. But yesterday he wasnt moving much and had hjs eyes closed all the time and they were sunk in. When i sprayed him that day he moved away with his eyes still closed. And today he has died. I can only assume he was already sick whrn k got him. Because i did everything right i think. But this couldnt have happened because something was in his eye right? If someone knows what is could have been please tell me.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you by chance have a dripper going? I know my veiled doesent really drink from the plants after misting, it just kinda starts him getting thirsty. He gets his water from sitting right under the drip or through his silkworms. I believe sunken eyes is a form of dehydration, and the bulge of the eyes is just cleaning unless it always stays inflamed. I ran into swollen eyes when I first got my Baby veiled a month or so ago. But it turned out to be the compact UVB instead of the tube. Went and got the tube it was clear in a week. But I'm sure that wouldn't cause his death.

I'm no expert but this seems like poor husbandry on the pet stores side. If you just got him he must have been already sick
