my female veiled laid her first(not with me i got her after she laid) clutch sept. 19 and when she seen the male today she colours from light ggreen body with blue spots to dark green with a yellowish-white patches on her and opens her mouth i took the male away cause he asks the same way? when should i try again ? or should i? this is same male she breeding with her first and only clutch and her eggs are almost a month old and still incubating with pervious owner of both chameleon.

I AGREE and you should get her some treats like horworms and silkworms im so excited my hawk moths are hatching right now now ill never have to buy horworms again my little babies are gunna b the worlds most spoildest chams in the world

this is my first year owning veiled chameleons but i started this year with just my male who is three. i bought my 1 year old female and 1 year old male from someone online who sold them tome after breeding. so i dont really know when to introduce her. thanks for all your comments. i have gotten lots of good advice here thanks. iam going to get her some worms right now thanks again

someone mentioned at that shes hurd of second clutches with chameleons from stored sperm. could that be why she colored like that. and my male looked like he wanted nothing to do with her? she laid last clutch around sept 19 if it is second clutch how long after laying could that be possible?

She certainly could lay again from the first mating. Be sure to keep her laying bin in her cage in case she does. I generally give my females a break after laying clutch and do not remate so quickly.

okay. do you have any idea how long after a first clutch that a second clutch may come? also i do want to breed my chemelons but only aslong as it doesnt risk her health. so what iam asking is howlong is best for her. when do they naturally want to mate. even an approx. time frame is more the answer i need

I would only breed her once a yaer with a male. She may weel have more clutches from retained sperm or infertile eggs. eggs from retained sperm can occur upto about 3 months after the initial mating

You can't really breed her until she is acting receptive to the male and he acts towards her as though he recognizes that she is a receptive female or they will likely fight. She should show him she's receptive when you hold her outside his cage by remaining calm and keeping her green coloration and NOT hissing, gaping, rocking back and forth, etc. If he behaves appropriately to her to then you can put them together.

Do you have a place in her cage for her to dig to show you when she's ready to lay the next clutch?
