Hello, my name is Joshua Giles. I adopted a 12 month old panther chameleon from a family member. It was having eye issues meaning it would not keep its eyes open and was lethargic. We were informed to flush his eye with artificial we did it in a way that caused the eye to bulge in order to get any obstruction out. It has been about a week since that happened and the chameleon's eye has just been getting worse. Yesterday his eye tripled in size so I took him to Kent Littlehale D.V.M. I was using a termycin ointment on his eyes and informed him and he told me to not use it because there could be a sensitivity reaction. He said there is no signs of mouth rot or any other irregular symptoms and said there seems to be swelling behind the eye and he prescribed me Baytril 0.1 cc per day. I was also sold some canned canine food that is high in fat and protein and told to force feed him 2 cc per day because he stopped eating. I was also told to raise the overall cage temperature to 90 degrees to help him fight of the infection. His eye swelled even bigger since yesterday and has a clear liquid with an orange tint seeping from his eye in very small amounts. The eye is HUGE and he is obviously very uncomfortable. I called the Kent Littlehale D.V.M back and sent him pictures, he said I could get some other medication for the swelling or see a vet who sees reptiles more often. Unfortunately money is an issue and I would not be able to afford another trip to the vet. I am desperate at this point and would appreciate any advice. thank you for taking the time to help this little guy. Attached are a few pictures to show just how bad it is.
