Thanks everyone for your replies, you guys are great.
Hahaha... the thread is coming
2 out of 4 have hatched now
My second little man had just managed to get his head out when i woke and came downstairs this morning
When we came back from our day out he, like his brother yesterday, still had his rear legs inside the shell. I placed my finger of the shell and he twisted round and started to climb my finger pulling himself free. It was amazing!
Cute little guy... well i think its a guy.
Baby number one ate some freshly born woodlouse today, my pinhead supplier let me down I'm so glad i have colonies of these maturing and breeding. His little tongue is fierce
What a privelege to have one crawl out of the egg onto your finger! I hope someone took some pics of that! I'm busting to see the pics Gary! You're teasing us now, lol!
Egg number three didnt make it I'm not sure why, its started to pip with baby number two. i thought i'd let it be a couple of days and the assist if needed. Well last night when i checked with my little light it didnt wiggle and on closer inspection i noticed it smelled a little. I thought i'd try and remove the shell just in case but it wasnt any help. The baby was fully formed and looked quite peaceful all tucked up
I think it was a girl.
Fingers crossed for egg number 4, it dented yesterday but doesnt appear to have cracked anywhere.
Should i cut this one considering what happened to the last?
H'wan and Baby 2 (Tiff hasnt let me know yet) are doing well, the seem strong and are throwing off some lovely patterns. I've seen them both shooting their tongues and managed to catch Baby 2 drinking.
They were in this:
But i have since moved them to the original enclosure i built before i thought about their size. I did this because the rep shop has been out of pinheads and fruit fly cultures. The enclosure has been the home for a few woodlouse and they have been breeding, there are hundreds of little white babies walking around. Pleanty of food for the boys for now. I have seen them hunting and eatting so thats good.
But i will move them back when the food supply is back on track.
Another shot of the babies...and their brother or sister waiting to hatch behind them.
I'm so sorry that number 4 didn't make it. Glad you like the name! I think 'Hunter' is very fitting for a cham! Thank you so much for allowing me the honour of naming him! Does that make me officially his 'God Parent'?! It means a lot to have such wonderful friends like you and other people on here (you know who you are!) who understand and share my passion!
