My panther turned purple!

Yesterday morning as we were getting ready to leave for vacation, we noticed that Leo turned a dark purple color. I'm not sure why, I'd guess he was stressed for some reason. Even while he was in this purple state he hand fed a cricket. I took him out and he turned back to normal fairly quickly. Other than the strange color, his behavior seemed normal. I just haven't seen this before so I was wondering if anyone here has seen this type of temporary coloration?

Here are some pics and as you can see in the last one, he's returning back to normal.

that is crazy! I have never seen a purple cham before! Is he a sambava or a ambilobe? As long as he is ok, that is as cool as S@#t!!!

My sambava went through a purple phase. I could never get it on camera though. He also went through a bright blue phase and he looked like a blue bar or purple bar ambilobe for a while!

Edit: I guess he's still in the purple phase. He just turns black or red before I can get a picture but it still isn't as bright as when he was younger.

He is a sambava. I think this was just some temporary stress coloration, and not really a color phase he's going through. Actually I'm not positive this is stress related, that's just a guess. Judging by how awful he looked, I hope he doesn't do this very often.

I think you're right. My guys bars were the only part of him that would change that color.
