My panther has been keeping his left eye closed. Please help!

Better picture of good eye and the eye he has been keeping closed.

Now I can see the difference,u will just need to mist the left eyes,since the pictures makes much difference from the previous one.

Sorry about the picture I tried her branches and perches in general aren't really set up for her to be facing me head on. They are more about making her moving around best with her disability and her having the ability to hide from me without having to try very hard. I will have to take a picture of her eyes when she doesn't notice the camera later because every time she sees it she stresses. However that is honestly the best I could do .____.' and those are retracted at least halfway.

I agree about trying to mist it and get him to rinse it as much as possible, you may want to try to make you mist as fine as possible and water as generally warm as possible that is comfortable.

Very good ,ur jackson is passing my eye inspection since from the top angle will clearly to show the eye turrets is not sunken in.

But then again she likes a lot of water. She is one of those montagnes who will happily sit in the mist, if it's the right temp and just get soaked and drink for 10minutes. She loves water. I think it was because she didn't get misted much where I got her from. In order to get my senior panther to drink good and well, I have to use boiling water cooled with just a bit of cold water, just so I can barely stand it touching my skin. Then the mist comes out warm at the farther drops. Either that or I do showers, lately for him I do showers at least twice a week until I can't keep the water warm, which is about 30 minutes or so, and he drinks and cleans his eyes. Misting depending on what temp I manage to get he will drink a little but nothing like the showers. With Hope, my Jackson, I do showers once or twice a month, unless she has gular edema for some reason which she gets rather easily if you aren't super careful with supplements or if you arent misting her enough at least once a day and then do shorter mistings the rest of the day. I usually have a misting which makes everything so much easier but I need to clean the nozzles really well because they are having misting problems. Yay for vinegar XD

Thats when the syringe parts came in,since some cham will shy away from any type of mist or even shower,If the eyes part looks different than usual(u can sit infront of the cage for long periods of time to make that observations)then this will telling us to get those water in the cham system right away,cause the cham can hide their sunken eyes part very well,another thing to look is their skin texture,if it look wrinkle and the cham is not SHEDDING,it usually show they are dehydrated,u can also pinch their skin n see if stays wrinkle or back to normal .
I found something instresting on the edema,they usually occurs when the cham is low in hydration,but thats in another topic to discuss.

I also prepare lots syringe,since When u handle lots different chams,u dont want to share the syringe n wash both hand before n after on each different cham ,u will never know what do they have even on a healthy cham,I boil the syringe in extremely hot boil water after I use them ,never be too clean n safe since our human eyes can not even detect any bacteria or virus.

Yes with Hope it depends on whether she is being hydrated enough or whether she has had too many supplements. It is kind of a balancing act with her. In the beginning it was pretty much because my water schedule was off because she needs at least four minutes of misting to get enough water to be hydrated enough. Though longer is better. But high levels of supplements can cause huge problems with her too. And requires flushing of her system in multiple ways and avoiding almost all supplements for a month. So yeah XD I love her so much she is lucky sometimes.

Edit. If he were to get sick I would travel to a vet. But I don't believe he is. Hopefully it's just a minor issue that can be fixed by twicking something.

Do you have an automatic misting system? I think all chameleons need a decent misting system (one that won't break when the reservoir runs dry as they all inevitably do) just to clean their eyes.

If you don't have an automatic mister, put him in the shower for an hour. Put him on a plant with the warmish shower spraying the wall (not the chameleon or his plant!) so the mist bounces off the wall and falls around him. Give him half hour showers several times a day.

There are a lot of things that could be wrong--it could be debris in his eye, a scratch, an infection or even a retina burn from the UVB lights.

First try misting heavily for a couple of days. Next would be a trip to the vet. Don't try to flush the eye yourself.
