Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum and to chameleons. i have had my baby chameleon for about two weeks. today i noticed that one of his eyes is always closed. i have read that chameleons are proned to eye infections. should i be alarmed? is there anything i can do for him? he has a good apetite and seems to be doing well otherwise. i would appreciate any advice!

Hello, welcome to the forums.

With your mister, you can try misting him with warm water for a couple of minutes to help him flush his eye. See if that works.

Welcome to the Chameleon Forums. This is a great place to learn about chameleons. As BeboSON said to start with try some extra very warm mistings and see if that helps. If you have a veiled or panther I have a blog for new keepers that I'm posting for you below. It will tell you what all you need to keep your little guy healthy with links to see pictures of the items and where you can buy each item. Most of the supplies that you need for chameleons can not be found in local pet store and have to be ordered off the internet. We'd love to see some pictures of your cham and his cage. Jann

Thanks guys Carletto looks much better today! he is openeing his eye. He hated the misting though! i thought he was having a heart attack, he nearly fell off his perch! afterwards he looked quite stressed and didn't want to eat! his eye also looked like it was going to pop right out of t's socket. but today he is fine! eating and drinking. i have been reading a bit and i think maybe he was a bit dehydrated because he also had a bit of orange in his stool. so i have been misting his cage alot more. should i continue to mist his eye or is that enough? thanks again!
