so on sunday i picked up my ambanja ambilobe mix. screameleons was very helpful, vincent especially. julius is what i named him and is a four month old male, he is 7 in. including tail. I have in a 12 in. deep 18 in. long 20 in. high all screen aluminum framed cage. For lighting i have a reptisun 5.0 and a 60 watt UVA bulb (i no almost all bulbs give off UVA and its the equivalent to heat). His ambient tank temp. is 71 degrees and the basking temp. is 86 degrees i spray 3 times a day and i own the little dripper dripping system. When i brought him home he drank of the leafs and ate 6 1/4 crickets. He seems very healthy and has been romeing around his tank for hours.

When i first got him he was angry and turned a light tan and had spots of red on his throat and chest region. In his cage he has a dwarf umbrella tree and vines, now that he is here he turned a sort of blackish navy blue with a small amount of green. Today he woke up at 6:45 and i gave him 12 crickets lightly dusted in calcium. When i came home i checked on him and he had only ate 4 crickets and walked over a lot showing no interest of eating. He is not in shed but has'nt eaten that many crickets even though its only his 1st day in my care. He is drinking regularly from the leaves but the eating problem worries me. he is still a little shell shocked from the transportation he ran away from my hand but i know not to handle him for about another months or so. He pooped today and it was a blackish brown and a white tip showing he is hydrated.

Can i see some pics of 4 months old ambilobes if anyone has some with their natural colors. Is there anything i can do to entice his feeding.

why would you want to handle him other than 4 cleaning and sunning routine?
also, for now, it's quite normal for him to eat less since he is still adapting to his new environment.
Give him time to adjust to his new territory.

hes prob a little stressed out, give him some quiet time, maybe even block his view out of the cage to anything else. let him settle and he should get his hunger back.

we can pretty much tell you hes just fine considering where your purchased him

( wait for it..... )

okay thanks yes i know not to handle him
